PR2019 Buggy and slow exports
Hi, I'm loving the 2019 version but having a struggle with exporting, it's taking a long time rendering a preview before allowing me to export, and once I hit export it then take an extremely long time with exporting even just once downsized 1mb jpeg.
Before I send in a support ticket I was just wondering if anyone else has found a way to correct this by re-installing or perhaps tinkering with the program settings????
Thanks

I'm seeing the same thing. Don't know of a fix though. Sorry.

Thanks Rick, I just read in the Plus Forum that Nathan commented that it is a known issue and the techs are working on getting it fixed eventually.

Now it's locking up my machine just from opening the program....sheesh, this sucks. I submitted a ticket but will re-install 2018 and use that in the meanwhile, I hope it works like it did as I have probably made a huge mistake over-writing it with the 2019 version and not just having both versions installed to be safe. Rather a bit ridiculous to say the least.
I feel like the nightmare I had last June has returned!

I found the same, but it seems much quicker if you export from "browse" and not within "edit"
So I just switch to "browse" before hitting the export button (If I remember!!)

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just installed back to the 2018 version and it will not read any of my sidecars files thus all my edited images are back to RAW file originals. I tried "touching" them etc etc and NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
I'm pissed, the friggin nightmare has returned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm back on the 2018 version now until they get this "2019 experimental version" working half way decently.
I have noticed that all the edits I did last night with the 2019 version (which I couldn't export many of them) do not show as edited now in the 2018 version.
It looks as if the 2018 version can not correctly read the 2019 version's sidecars/ON1 edit files......just so you all know if you have to resort back to an earlier version.

It's been mentioned many times now on this forum that 2019 is not backwards compatible with 2018.

I've had slow, but not buggy exports until today. On the left is a raw file after final edit and the right is the same file after export. This was using the Perfect Eraser. A different, but similar edit on another image did prior to this worked fine. Thinking it was a timing issue, I waited a few minutes and did a second export with the same results.

You know Jim, I'm kind of disappointed with On1 about this. I've checked both the User guide and Release notes and there is nothing to explain how or why a user would install over or beside 2018 and nothing that says 2019 is not backwards compatible other than word of mouth. It doesn't allow anyone to make an informed decision on which way to go depending on their situation.
I think I'm going to write this up and send it to them.

Rick, if PR2019 would of worked correctly to begin with I would of never had to reinstall PR2018 and learn 2019 was not backward compatible.....
It seems every new version or even the released updates I go through hell trying to get things to work right, PR2019 is no different in this regard. Hopefully my ticket I submitted will get 2019 working correctly for me as it looks much better than 2018.5........I'm guessing it will take a while though.

As Jeremy says, after you develop a picture if you don't want to wait the long generating preview (yesterday for a picture of multi effects and local adjustments it takes 1:30" minute to go on export) go back to browse and push export on that out of the modules and it generating preview instantly......hope they solve on the modules quickly with a patch.

I'll try re-installing tonight and exporting out of browse instead as mentioned above. I'm actually back to just using PR2018.5 instead until they come out with a patch or something.
I got a response from support but it looks like a copy and paste response so between working long days and regular life I really don't have time playing email tag with support and repeating myself several times to the issues I'm having. Obviously I'm not the only one having these issues so I'm sure they are working on a fix for the near future update.
I surely was hoping I could just download PR2019 and get right to using it, oh well.....

Yeah, I always export from browse unless I'm in layers. Haven't tried that, but assume it would work the same way. I am still doing most of my work from 2018 until some more of this gets sorted out.

This On1 2019 is a complete SHAMBLES. Not only does it take FOREVER to export but some of the local edits don't get copied through and there is no easy way to save your work as you go. I have about 50 wedding pictures taken in front of a green screen and I've had enough. I'm gping back to On1 2018.
What a complete waste of my time On1.

I really, really want to like, trust ON1 but every upgrade seems to bring issues. There is no way I could possibly dump Adobe in favour of ON1 so I guess the question now is do I just forget ON1. On the basis that I do not have a problem with the subscription model the obvious answer is dump ON1. That is a shame though as the concept is brilliant!

Support inspected a log file for me and found my graphics driver was old (which I thought was updated with the most recent!).
PR2019 has been unusable for me but when I did this update I can now use PR2019.....
I'm using a stock/standard HP Pavilion (approx. 3 yrs old) Laptop running Windows 10. The most recent Intel Graphics Driver is dated Nov. 5, 2018, so those running a machine similar to mine and or with Intel stock/standard drivers need to install the latest graphics drivers for your machine and perhaps it will resolve the issues you are having, it worked for me. PR2019 is still a bit buggy but at least I can use it now.
Be sure to check your machines spec's before doing this update.....
Intel has a newer driver which you can download here:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/88355/Intel-HD-Graphics-520Thanks ON1 Support!!!!!

....also, I still have to export from browse to prevent the really slow generating a preview episode.
I'm sure it'll take ON1 a few more updates before fixing many of these bugs. I highly recommend sending in a support request if you are having issues. Those at support fixed things for me with PR2018 early on and now got PR2019 up and running for me. They will eventually make things right but one sometimes needs to be patient. Frustrating for sure but they'll help.
I will darn sure keep PR2018 on my machine as a backup just in case PR2019 stops working again. Right now I have both 2018 and 2019 usable and mainly using PR2019. There's still some bugs I have in my copy of 2019 but I can work around them for the time being.

Hell, I'm back to using PR2018 again!!!!!
This is beyond ridiculous!
2019 worked for a day or so after support had me update my graphics card and then it just gradually got worse and worse until all it does is sit there and is not responsive at all. It causes my whole machine to become totally unresponsive to the point that I actually have to do a hard reboot just to get out of PR2019!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm afraid that if I keep trying to use it to try to trouble shoot it that it'll actually ruin my laptop!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PR2018 seems to be working okay, PR2019 has some MAJOR ISSUES to say the least......
Frustrating for sure!!!!!

Hopefully the December PR2019 update will address many of these issues that several are having, including myself.
I'm trying another clean install, but it didn't work last time.....don't even know why I'm trying again!
I went through this same ordeal last summer with the PR2018 updates, I think in June......it took over a month before I could actually get this software working to where I could actually enjoy it.
When it works it's awesome, when it doesn't I want to pull my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Realize that this a few months old but has the export issue been resolved? I am brand new to this "software"...not real thrilled...

Douglas, I haven't hardly had any issues since doing a clean install of the 2019.2 version some months ago. Occasionally there's a glitch and I have had it suddenly shut down a couple times, but all and all its working fine.
When this software/program is working correctly it is by far the best on the market in my opinion. I use PR2019 as a stand alone editor/processor and won't use anything else....

...and always go from editing to back to the browse modual before exporting.

Jim, thing is my PC is pretty much just locked up when I am in the software.

Douglas,
Not to beat a dead horse... but do you have catalogs enabled? IE, directories listed under the Catalogs in the main Browse?
That is a real show stopper for me and many others. I have been working directly off of my drives for pretty much since 2019 came out. I am done telling ON1 about it and have just given up on them (for now). I was working in ON1 last night and using the filters just fine without catalogs, so I am not real sure what benefit they would give, but if you have a big feature that you tell everyone about, you should make sure it works well. And catalogs do not. Anything in the catalog gets beat to death with hard drive access, over and over again.
I have no real issues now with ON1 2019.2, but if I had catalogs turned back on, I would.

I haven't used cataloged folders since early mid 2018. I'll never use that feature again, it causes me pain! lol

Not 100% sure what you mean Kevin, but the only directories I see are my actual hard drives....

To answer douglas original question, no it's not resolved yet. We're still waiting for an update. There have been no official announcements, but the best educated guess based on previous versions is sometime in June.
As mentioned catalogs are still a problem, I still have jerky brush issues, memory leaks in masks, others (not me) have the export issues, and there are other minor fixes still to be done.
It's frustrating to wait, but if the next release DOES fix these things I'll be happy again. Unfortunately I've been waiting for a catalog fix for more than a year now, so I'm not holding my breath.

I don't have catalogs turned on. Extremely disappointed with this nightmarish software...
