Sorry Arthur, your question is a bit confusing. I'll just run through the basic workflow, things you might already know, but if I didn't hit on an answer let me know.

On1 is non-destructive. that means that when you edit a photo On1 is not applying those edits to the original. Instead it's just saving them in a database (and sidecars if enabled). As you work, On1 saves as you go. When you're done and want a finished copy, you do an Export. With export, On1 combines the original with your edits and creates a new image, usually jpg. You can save that jpg in the same folder as the original, but then On1 will treat it as another photo to be edited. It's your choice, but I'd recommend having a separate folder for developed photos.

Don't forget to read through the user manual, it explains a lot.

Let me know if I missed something.

I think my problem is of the same kind.

I have several images that are composed by several other images. When I open them for edit, play around with them, are not satisfied and want to return to browse, the image is saved. In other words I have no possibility of quitting without saving.

hvierke, yes but you can cancel those edits at any time and in many ways. When you're editing you can delete any filters that you add, on the bottom of the filter list there are 'Reset' and 'Reset All' buttons. When in Browse, there is 'Reset All' for the selected photos also right click a photo and select Reset or go to the Settings menu and there are 8 options for Resetting.

Yes, but I don't want to reset all, I just want to go back to the situation when I started to reedit the image, with the adjustments so far. Maybe a new variant will do the trick?

If you just want to try re editing a photo without losing what you've already done, you should right click and create a Version. Then you can play with the version any way that you like without affecting the original.
