Photoraw 2019 always crashes
I'm on OSX Mojave. From a clean boot I can only use Photoraw 2019 one time before it constantly crashes. My workflow has me open it as a plugin from Photoshop CC 2019. I can open one photo and edit it, but when I open a second photo, that's where the problem starts. On1 seems to retain the information from previous photo. When I click "reset all" to remove all the filters I have applied, it crashes. It opens fine, but I cannot "Reset all". Can anyone please help? Developers? I paid for this, I would really like to use it. I've not had any problem at all from previous versions.

You should take your description from above and a copy of the On1 logs and create a support ticket. The logs might point to whatever is causing the crash. The log is available from On1 help menu, just save it as a txt file.

Similar story for me, running Mohave too. ON1 crashes in about 8-10 seconds after starting, then comes the Apple crash reporter, hit Reopen, get the ON1 crash reporter, fill that out send, and then ON1 restarts and seems to behave itself. I have filed a crash report with logs. No response yet, but this is Sunday. I don't even get to edit anything either. Strange!

Thank you Rick, that's what I'll do.

My computer has been crashing, too. Now, I cannot enlarge a photo without it changing to this:

I'm so disappointed; I've been unable to work for several days. By the way, I have reinstalled the program twice since this problem started. And yes, I have submitted a ticket. I got a response telling me to reinstall, but I'd already done it. I'm not going to reinstall again. I too have a macbook pro and Mojave is my operating system. I might wonder if ON1 Raw has an incompatibility issue with Mojave.

Same on may High Sierra, reported to tech support, submitted crash file as well, no response yet.
? was there a secret bug fix since the release of 2019 version?

Pavel, there have been several new versions of Photo Raw since the initial release, but none have been publicly announced yet. Sometimes if you submit a support request, On1 will send you an updated release to see if your problem has been resolved. So far, that's the only way to get one. I'm still hoping tor a public release any time now. Fingers crossed.

My program continues to crash. I raised the question with the supprt team, of whether the program is incompatible with Mojave, particularly, because a number of people who are also using Mojave indicate in this thread that they also have a problem with crashing (although I see that Pavel has had problems with High Sierra). I received an answer from James. This is what he said:
Thank you for using ON1! I apologize for the confusion, but our programs are compatible with the latest Mac OS Mojave. We have not had any compatibility issues or problems with the current or legacy versions of our apps that are directly related to the Mojave OS. Please note, there are many possible machine configurations and workflows when running our applications. In my experience troubleshooting many different issues on both Mac and PC machines here in TS tickets and in the community forum, please note, while it may seem two people are reporting the same problem in a particular thread, in almost all cases the root cause of the two problems are entirely different. Please keep this in mind when going thru the User to User community help forum. For the most accurate technical support, please contact our support team directly and make sure to describe the problem in detail, include copies of the image files and sidecars, a copy of the latest On1 Log and a copy of your system information."
The bold print above is mine. However, he offers no help with the crashing in spite of my sending in all of the information that was asked for.

John,Charles,Dolores,Pavel,
Has anybody gotten a solution to this problem. I have the same crashing issue. I'm running ON1 Photo RAW 2019 on a MacBookAir with Mojave.

No solution here. My computer crashed twice yesterday. I have a friend, a retired Apple engineer who actually worked on the MacBook Pro when he was at Apple. Patrick keeps my computer purring like a kitten. In fact, he went over it with a fine toothed comb just yesterday. All is well on that front so the ON1 crashes.cannot be attributed to computer issues.

Adding my voice to the choir. Countless crashes after the last update, often while doing... nothing!
"...please note, while it may seem two people are reporting the same problem in a particular thread, in almost all cases the root cause of the two problems are entirely different..."
I have a top spec last generation iMac (i7, 8GB GPU, 64GB RAM), and my question to the above "expert" would be: why LR, PS, Luminar, and Capture One (which I all own) work like charm?
I work in the IT since 1996, and seeing an anomaly present at the same time on hundreds of different configurations, and therefore jump to the conclusion that there are hundreds of different causes is just a preposterous and arrogant way to face the problem.
The way in which the problem is spread tells me exactly the opposite!

Lucio, Thanks for joining the party. I responded to Dolores' comment, however, it doesn't appear to have been recorded in this forum. So here it is...
"Dolores, Thank you for your response. I pretty much have ruled out Mojave as a cause of the problem because I also have ON1 running on an iMac with Mojave with no issues. II use my MacBook Air for testing various applications. It only has 4G of memory so I first suspected that ON1 needed more memory. However, after numerous crashes I started Lightroom 6, Luminar, Affinity, Apple Photos, Safari, and Mail. All running at the same time with no issues. "
Since that response I have found a solution to my particular crash problem...
In Preferences->System, clear 'Browse Cache' and clear ‘Lightroom Migration Cache’.
I cleared ‘Browse Cache’ because initially, ON1 would crash while browsing. However, with subsequent launches of ON1 it would crash without any keyboard or mouse action. Then I cleared the ‘Lightroom Migration Cache’. That appeared to have fixed the problem.

Thank you for your responses, Lucio and Edward. I agree with your assessment of the issue Lucio, and I just wrote a note to the support team which included this:
"I have not resolved the computer crashes which happen every time I work in ON1 2019 at least once and sometimes twice. The thread on this issue which shows the numbers of people who also have the same problem and the recognition that it is not happening with other programs indicates that this is an ON1 issue. Please read those comments and let us know what is being done to resolve the problem."
As you can see, I urged the response team to read this thread and respond to us here.
Edward, my crashes alwas occur in Edit, but I'm going to try clearing "Browse Cache" to see if it helps. I am no long usng Lightroom and I have cleared it off of my mac. I'll let you know if clearing Browse Cache helps.

Hi Fellows!
Thanks to the great suggestion from Edward regarding the cache purging, I was able to keep Photo RAW opened for hours, in idle, without the sudden crash I experienced before.
As stated, and as it was obvious from the beginning, this confirms it is a Photo RAW "peculiarity", rather than an individual configuration issue.
Will restart working, and let's see. So far, so good!
Thanks, Mates.

I've been busy and just now had a chance to go to Preferences->System, clear 'Browse Cache' and selected empty cache and clear cache but nothing changed. I am including a screen shot of how System looked:
I selected empty cache and clear cache but nothing changed. What does this mean? I also selected OK and closed the window. Subsequently, I reopended the window and nothing had changed. Can you please explain this to me?
Thanks, Dolores

Dolores,
Were you expecting something to change in the dialog box shown in your recent post? If so after clearing the cache nothing will change on that dialog box. It's just showing the space you have allocated for the On1 cache and locations of the scratch and cache folders. That said, I have moved both the scratch and cache folders off of my primary C drive ( Windows ) to another SSD drive with a lot of free space and set the cache size to max. I don't have the crashing issue reported by others. Not sure if this is related or not, but I will say that I just watched Hudson's course on Panoramic photography and I noticed something he said. He mentions he uses a fast external SSD drive for his scratch folder to keep his system from crashing when editing extremely large files like panos etc . so I am guessing having at least your scratch folder moved to a drive with tons of extra space can't hurt and very well could possibly help.
Edited to add: Just be aware if you use cataloging it's my experience moving the cache folder will cause the catalog to rebuild not sure about the scratch folder but I don't think so. I stopped using the catalog feature so moving the cache folder for me is not an issue. I just watched the video again and Hudson only has the scratch folder moved to the external drive.

David.
I only work with SSD, both my internal iMAC and my external "working" one are very fast 1GB SSDs, over half empty, and I experienced the issue till the moment I purged the Lightroom cache as suggested by Edward.
More, we're not talking about hundreds GB panos, but working on standard catalogue. As you can read in the trail, Photo RAW was unusable by many of us, keeping crash every few minutes, with or without working on specific section of the tool (mine was crashing even in idle).
Dolores didn't migrate from Lightroom, hence her scenario can maybe differ. It looks like Photo RAW is extremely (too much?) demanding, hardware wise (unoptimised coding?), therefore your suggestion could be applicable...

A long-time user of the On1 Perfect Photo Suite I had On1 Photo 10 that had sudden crash issues and after a crash it would hang when loading the app. I installed the on1 Photo Raw 2019 trial and it behaves the same: sudden crash when browsing, editing, whatever, then refuses to launch. This happens in iMac, Mojave environment. I was starting to like this app as a Lightroom alternative, but if it has this serious stability issues… no way I'm going to pay for the upgrade. This is, like, beta testing behaviour. And no response here on the forum looks really bad, almost Adobe-like, compared to, say Affinity where they monitor and respond to user comments very promptly.
My money says no.0 -
I'm having the same crashing issues in Mojave. If it opens, it takes forever and hangs. I enjoy the software when it works, but I don't see the point of using it if it's so unreliable.

Try holding the Shift key while the program is launching. This will bring up a dialog asking you if you want to reset the program, choose the option to do that. Something has become corrupt and that may reset it. You will have to go back and reset any Preferences settings you've made once the program comes back up. I have no problems running 2019 on Mojave on my 2017 MacBook Pro.
