Did you import a Lightroom catalog? Mine's still chugging through images. I can see the .on1 files still being written to my hdd. I think it's the "Machine Learning Algorithms" chugging away converting my LR edits into On1 edits in the background. My mid 2012 I7 with 16Gb is practically unusable when On1 Photo Raw 2019 is running :(

sorry to hear that! I still haven't attempted importing anything from Lightroom yet, but I can imagine this must be really resource intensive!

It was posted in the Windows forum but it looks like catalog folders are causing problems. I removed all my cataloged folders and the software was much quicker although I still suffer pregnant pauses every now and again. Check the link below.

Hey Thank you @Anthony Quinn for pointing out the thread! I deleted the ExploreService program and stopped using catalogs (besides resosrted to using catalogs precisely because the program was sluggish but it didn't help) and I also hid the presets panel that some reported on the thread that was cause for sluggishness, but nothing perceptible changed.

The On1 process CPU usage is still idling at ~10% and panning/zooming/cropping/edits are sluggish. I have not faced any serious pauses admittedly, nor does my overall system feel slow when running On1 - other programs work fine in parallel - it's just that the overall experience inside the program is as if I'm running a video game at 1 or 2fps...

I experience lagging masking brush behavior.

I have an ongoing ticket on the issue. Hoping they find some cause.

Is it just the masking brush that is laggy, or do you also find issues with panning/zooming and cropping?

Strangely enough the only thing that on my machines is faster in On1 compared to lightroom is the masking brush! Of crouse it's not "fast", merely more responsive than in LR.

Here's a small video where I record a comparison between the choppiness while panning and cropping inside On1 versus OpticsPro11 (all other programs are equally responsive as OP11)

Yes, I have the same panning issues.

I hope you have submitted support ticket on this.

I did; let's hope this gets resolved - it's my biggest issue with On1!

Also experiencing lagging, lockups, and such using the masking brushes   Also, they removed the Quick Mask which was a great tool, especially when you do a lot of product shots with sold background and want to remove in one swoop.  I read their reasoning, but on the user end, it's a big let down.

yeah, I have the same exact problem.  My iMac might not be super new, but i7 intel with 32 gigs of Ram run all my other apps without any latency.  It is weird using the brush tool with a lag.  Even opening presets I can count one one thousand two one thousand and... then it changes my image.

I never owned 2018 but from the threads I've read that wasn’t an issue before.  Also, is it normal to have to login to the application each time I start it?

2018 had problems too but with 2019 and the new layers they are more obvious.

No, you shouldn't have to log in every time. Photo Raw will check the registration online every time it starts but that is automatic and you shouldn't see it. If you don't have obvious problems like no internet or write protected folder, you should open a support ticket and ask On1 about it.

Hi Bob, I basically stopped using it except in rare cases.  Until they fix these issues anyway.  They seem to have a pattern of poor Q/A and then fighting fires during the release then charging for a new update at end of the year.

I went through this with the version before 2018, don't remember its release label.    If you have Mojave there are some new security things you have to look at in Security and Privacy.  I'm not that familiar with the deep dive parts f the MAC I just use it for Post Processing work. :)

Yeah, that is what I did, they gave me a refund.  I am using it on a 30 day demo now and will wait for another promotion to purchase again.

It's too bad for me. If I didn't have this brush lag issue, I would be 100% for ON1.

BTW I updated to Mohave and started booting from an SSD instead of my platter HD.

Besides a big improvement in the overall speed of the iMac, the ON1 brush lag is slightly less noticeable but still there.

I totally agree, I only have SSD drives on my iMac, the only thing is I dont have a metal supported GPU and am stuck with High Sierra, but that should not be the reason for the latency.  The having to re-enter my activation number and login every time I start the application is a real pain as well.

Bob, as I mentioned in the other thread, you need to contact On1 (submit button at top of page) about the activation. It shouldn't be doing that.

    Hi,

I have the same problems, ON1 is not very responsive, too slow, I note the same troubles of fotis K about the zoomming, panning and also with the mask using the filter in Effect session.

I use ON1 in stand alone mode and I'm in training with 3 or 4 photo CR2 (Canon EOS 7D MK I), the release is 2019.1 (13.1.0.6264).

I have a Imac 27" Mid 2011, with I7 3,4 GHz, 16 GB Ram, High Sirra on SSD, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2GB Ram.

Have you a suggestion please ?

    Hi Tom,

    thank you for your answer.

I'm just in touch with James.
In the last days, I tried to reinstall my OSX High Sierra but nothing changed.
Today I sent to your support the Log File.

I am going to wait until a next release and try again.  for now I will stick with LR and PS until I am completely satisfied with a smooth running on1 before I let go.

I hope they solve this problem quickly.
The software is very nice and many features are avaliable but too slow and this is a limitation that does not allow use. I hope in a new release as soon as possible.

If I zoom to 100% on any large Raw file, I just get the checkerboard transparency background. The full resolution image never loads, no matter how long I leave it. Anything more zoomed than 50% just times out. It feels like lag that never resolves.

Greg, you need to report that to tech support. I don't remember anyone else having that problem. You should include all of the info requested in this guide.

I'm seeing the masking brush "lag" as well... on a high end ASUS ROG laptop running Win10.  The brush seems to "freeze" frequently and for periods of 2-20 or so seconds to the point where local masking adjustments are just not usable.  I also see it with the masking bug but not as severely.  Other basic develop/effects features seem to work ok.  I can't swear that it was in the first release of PR2019 since I was slow to upgrade not wanting to have to endure yet another batch of ON1 product bugs.  PR2018 had problems but it was at least usable.  I noticed it (the problem is blindingly obvious) in the latest and current version of PR2019.

As others have said, ON1 PR has not been a production-ready product for as long as I've owned it.  I love the features but I would love it a lot more if it actually worked reliably and if I didn't have to cross my fingers and say a prayer every time I upgrade it.  I wish ON1 would get serious about fixing this stuff and especially about doing serious SQA regression testing before releasing updates.

I did open a support ticket but in the two years I've owed ON1, support has not been very responsive.  Anyone who has opened a ticket with them knows exactly what I am talking about.  Heads would have rolled long ago if I was running the joint.

I'm wondering if the CEO over there actually reads these forum posts or if he even cares about any of this stuff.  I get the impression that he spends his day shining his Tesla and perfecting his golf game.
