Obviously ON1 is a little embarrassed about CR3 support as to even mention the word on the Facebook in a post it gets removed and I suspect that if it is in the header here it is treated as spam. Also I can't find other threads that mentioned it so they must have been deleted.
Insofar as I am concerned, I guess I am selfish, but I am really suffering because I had a event last Friday where I have to go through and edit approximately 700 images. Not easy when your RAW converter of choice doesn't help.
As far as I can see there are to other ways to get around this deficiency and that is either to do the following:
1. Convert to DNG using the Adobe DNG Converter (24MB per image), or
2. Convert to TIF using Canon DPP. (140MB+ per image)
The most convenient way is to convert to DNG using the Adobe DNG converter as it takes a fraction of the time to convert to TIF using DPP. But there are issues with the way in which ON1 Photo RAW opens a DNG converted using the Adobe DNG Converter and that is that it applies the lens corrections, which are already applied in the conversion by the Adobe DNG Converter. What this means is that if you apply a EF-M or EF-S lens correction to a DNG it looks like a great big vignette.
Now I have asked for the support area to correct this issue with converting DNGs but their only advice is to turn off Lens Corrections in the preferences but that has the effect of then going through and regenerating previews for each and every RAW image that is catalogued. Obviously not a viable alternative and as support have not even replied to open issues I am looking for ideas other than switching RAW converters.
I have been a user since v6 but have never felt so helpless as a user of ON Photo RAW, the only concession or protest I have made is that I haven't renewed my Plus Membership and I really don't see any point.
So, if anyone has any ideas on alternatives please post here.
