Photo RAW 2019.5 Thumbnails
I haven't seen all the new features in 2019.5 yet, but one thing I appreciate is being able to go up to two giant thumbnails. I've set the RAW previews to Accurate but it looks to me that the large thumbnails rendering is a little on the unsharp side. But that may be just me.
So my question is: how do the larger thumbnails appear to you?
-
They look just fine on my MacBook Pro.

I've had a chance to look at more images and I've compared to LR and XnView's rendering of thumbnails.
I'm on a WinTel machine.
The ON1 thumbnails when at their largest size, (2 side by side) are unsharp on my screen. They are sharp when I use XnView and LR at their largest thumbnail viewing size.
I was so looking forward for ON1 2019.5 Too bad.

Thumbnails on my MacBook Pro are terrible.
they look fine until I go and edit something and then there is colour missing, ghosting, contrast
so check out the image. my thumbnail are on the left and images on the right.
Every time I go to edit a new image the thumbnail looks terrible and it takes ages to open or do any edits.

Have you reported this to support?

I've had a response from ON1 Support. They tell me that the problem I'm having with the unsharp thumbnails is hardware related on my side.
But if I bring in the image in the develop module the image is sharp. I did not have this thumnails problem with ON1 2019.2 nor am I having it with Lightroom or XnView. Now I can't use ON1's browse function to cull images.
It never ends. There's always something. I was so looking forward to the ON1 2019.5 release.

So what they’re saying is it’s not compatible with Macs? That seas a little crazy to me. So what was there suggested fix?

Bear,
I'm using a WinTel machine. Can't speak for Macs. They suggested some Windows graphics settings which did not work. As to what they say is related to the hardware on my side, it's for me to figure out. I've had enough. I've unsintalled ON1 2019.5

Andre Moreau, do you've a dedicated graphics card?
Or is Intel Integrated?0 -
Joao,
I have a dedicated Nvidia graphics card. Thumbnails are unsharp and therefore unusable. Same image in develop module is sharp. Why?

The large thumbnails aren't clear on Windows either.

I changed computer, now i've integrated Inte Graphics card UDH 620, and a discrete graphics Card Nvidia mx150 4GB (lots and lots of power). Fresh windows 10 install.
The problem is the same, on browse, the screenshots are destroyed and cannot be exported. On edit they're ok.
To export, i've to go to edit.0 -
There is a new preferences setting for speed vs sharpness under Preferences > System.

Brian Lawson that's not the case...!
Firt exported from browse and it's what i see at browse.
Second exported from edit.
With this you can see clearly the difference.
I've tried a fresh computer like i said, with nothing more than on1, and a powerfull graphics card.
All options like support and sugestions from others, have said.
And it's always the same.0 -
I did not address the export issue, only the previews not appearing sharp. Complaining to me isn't going to help get this fixed. It needs to be reported to tech support.

Brian Lawson, of course, what do you think i already made same days ago?
First thing, support, and i'm not complaining to you, i am showing what is like.0 -
@Brian Lawson
"There is a new preferences setting for speed vs sharpness under Preferences > System"
This was suggested by ON1 Support when I reported the unsharp thumbnails problem. It made absolutely no difference with the thumbnails. Large thumbnails are unsharp, images in develop module are as sharp as can be. Why?

Joao, I apologize if I was a bit defensive in my previous response, sorry. I understand the problem, I've had it too; one time the image exports correctly, the next the same image is off. I too am frustrated with this update. It's my opinion that it was released far too soon. I even asked for an updated beta after they had reported some of the issues I'm still seeing as having been fixed and my request was denied. I could have told them prior to release about most of these problems that are driving away users, especially new users who have not yet been able to see the benefits ON1 Photo RAW has to offer.
One thing that would be helpful for us all is if the company posted a list of known problems that they are aware of and working on.

Brian Lawson, no worries. Let's hope on1 see the tickets and see the forum, and can correct many of the problems, that you now see that are common to most windows users.
I arrange a way to always export good, go to resize and export from there, it's always good.
But HDR don't work at all, 3 photos (3 exposures), always crash.0 -
I have had issues with thumbnails looking weird as well and have reported. Once the files are opened in Edit they look normal but when I go back to Browse the thumbnails still look corrupted, like they have water stains all over them. Exported files are also fine.
I have a 27" Mac with 3 TB Fusion drive, 24GB Ram and running Mojave.
