2019.5, bugs? and even more bugs? :(
With this version, the edited photos when i see them in browse, they are HORRIBLE, if i try to export from there, that horrible look is what i get on the exported jpg but export is seconds.
Then i click the photo and go to the develop mode, and i export from there and the export is very slow like 2019.2 but the edits are accurate and the photo exported is very good.
Crashs are happenning, that doesn't happened on 2019.2, and my walcom tablet is useless, very very very slow i gave up :(
I was expecting improvents, and i only see things worst.
My Computer, CPU i7-8550U, NvME SSD 512GB, 16GB RAM .
WINDOWS 10 64bits with all updates.

FOR GOD SAFE, This is full of bugs!! When i added the retouch modulo to effects, the photo is ok on screen, but is HORRIBLE when exporting.
This is bug after bug :( :( :( :(
I AM VERY UNHAPPY!!!!!
I want my money back!!1 -
I found too found the latest release to be very sluggish, to the point that I thought it had crashed, but every time it came back to life. When this acted up, the cursor was stuck and couldn’t be moved or it moved in a jerky uncontrollable way, the CPU was overheating, and the internal fans were running at max speed. This on a 2017 iMac with an i7 processor and 32 GBs of RAM. Also, while applying masks, the colors in the photo would do weird stuff, like change from bright to dark on their own, even in areas where no mask was applied. This is really bad...

Another bug, creating one HDR image, from 3 exposures, when saving the program CRASH.

This version like all the others is to flee. It's more and more bad, and unusable.
It's a pity because I like a lot ON 11 -
I've uninstalled, can't work with so many bugs and crashs.
I installed again 2019.2 and stability is back again. It's slow on export and sometimes in brushing, but it works.
I was putting so many hopes at this 2019.5 version :(0 -
Yes, it's like my photos have some strange weird ghost effects on them!
Don't update just yet...and hopefully this is something they can set right quite fast.

Well, I'm not holding my breath for a quick fix. In their online demo they just conducted, they basically said that everything works just fine and everything is so much faster than older versions. No issues with anything, though I tried asking a number of questions about the performance issues I'm experiencing which were completely ignored. Funny, the guy that was doing the demo was bragging about the speed improvements he's experiencing on his dated iMac--I suppose, the problem must be that I'm using a newer iMac... 🤯
And adding insult to injury, when I reported these problems to Tech Support, I got a canned reply telling me that they just released a new upgrade that should fix all my problems--I surmise that they never even read my message about the problems I'm having with 2019.5 and just sent out an automated response about the new release. So much for responsive tech support...

Worst update ever. Words fail me!!

When people don't want to hear thei costumers, the future is not good.
I would like they see what we're seeing with our versions, we payed like everyone else.
If they're in denial, it's bad, very bad :(
There're other options at the market, they're more expensive on the long run, but at least they work, and they fix the problems quickly when things happen.
I would like to see all webinars with PC's, laptop's by the way, and windows 10.
I say again, i like this product, but i don't like the way this is going. There're bugs, please fix it, we can wait another month if necessary.0 -
I'd like to know how many updated over 2019.2 and how many did a clean install. I did the clean install and I'm not finding all of the problems that are being posted. I still have a jerky brush just as before and a couple of minor bugs, but that's all (so far).
I'm using a 10-year-old PC and expect slowness in some areas, so I'm not complaining about that.

I did a clean install.

Rick, I did a clean install and everything seems to working great....and then I shut the program down and re-open it and every image I edited is all screwed up. All the feathering I did with masks are unfeathered w/slider all the way to the right to where it can't be refeathered without completely starting over by resetting all.... and many brushing edits are visible etc etc etc. It's a friggin mess to say the least. And I have a brand new high performance and VERY EXPENSIVE computer.
I just uninstalled 2019.5 and went back to 2019.2, 2019.2 works great on my machine, very fast and very very few issues and/or glitches.
I'm not about to even attempt to spend weeks trying to get 2019.5 working correctly etc etc. This is not my first rodeo with "updated and improved" versions not working correctly. I have never once in over 2 years downloaded an updated version and had it working correctly right away. I'm figuring by next September ON1 will have all the bugs worked out with 2019.5 and I'll wait until then to try it again....

@JDurfee
I've had similar experiences with masks. I had worked on a photo yesterday. When I opened it today it displayed properly. I went to edit to do a minor change, and when I went back to browse, the somehow got reset so I had to reset everything.
I have to admit, however, that today, 2019.5 is working a lot better. The computer isn't freezing and the CPU doesn't seem to overheat causing the fans to go into overdrive. But I'm still getting weird behaviors with masks.
I'm kind of stuck with 2019.5 because there was a bug with the earlier versions where ON1 wasn't rendering some bright colors properly from Canon 80D RAW images. They have reportedly fixed this in 2019.5 and so far I haven't seen any photos with purple streaks showing up where none exist in the same photos when viewed in other photo apps.

Phillip, I downloaded 2019.5 last night and edited about 20 RAW Files, exported them all to my desktop as Jpegs, I was astonished how well 2019.5 worked, how fast it was, how great everything was, hell, I was impressed and happy as a little kid in a candy store!!!!
This evening I opened the program and every image I edited last night was just a mess, completely changed etc etc etc....I thought it may just be a thumbnail preview issue and started to export these images to my desktop and they exported fast and appeared on my desktop as they appeared in ON1, a friggin mess!!!!!! Totally messed up!
I reinstalled 2019.5 and tried this all over again and everything works great until I shut the program down and then reopen it. Everything I edit goes back to an unfeathered masked mess!!!!
Obviously my copy of 2019.5 will not save masking moves to the sidecar.....
I'm not gonna bother myself with weeks of nightmares like I have in the past with ON1 and I just reinstalled 2019.2, which works fine for the most part. This happens to me with every single update!!!! PR2019 would never work right for me either until finally the 2019.2 version came out, I was using PR2018 until that version.
Regardless, I love Photo RAW and am patient, they'll eventually get this version right to, it just usually takes a while. In the meanwhile 2019.2 is working fine for me and I love using it.

Jim, I had some similar experiences where edits I made to some photos revert back or worse, the masks I had applied change on their own and completely ruin the earlier photo edit. I've also seen some masks not applied evenly when I copy and paste them to another effect or local adjustment.
I too like ON1 and would like to see them succeed with this product. I hope they can soon fix some of these issues.

Totally clean install for me too. All my images are way too warm but export cooler. Some photos processed with 2019.2 look very different in 2019.5 and I still get blurry images when rotating a photo. Borders always work weird unless I click "fit to canvas" but I was told that was only needed in particular cases. Seems to be necessary for all my photos. Old and new version both sometimes contain export errors with some processes not being applied. Exports rarely look as sharp as they do in On1.
Really not sure what to do. Thinking of trying a Capture One demo. Glad I have Lightroom 6 to fall back on, but after getting hooked on the promise of On1 and buying into 2018 & 19, Lightroom seems like an unattractive choice.

UPDATE:
I cannot fully confirm yet. But i used a computer without a dedicated gpu (amd, nvidia or something like that).
The computer only had the integrated graphics from the cpu, intel UHD 620.
When i turned off GPU on preferences, the problem with the screenshots of browser have passed i can see them clear now.
But ON1 is now only using the CPU, not the part of the intel UHD 620.
It seems that photo raw only consider GPU the nvidia, amd, and do not use the integrated graphics from cpu like the intel UHD 620.
I'll update this with more experiences tomorrow.0 -
"It seems that photo raw only consider GPU the nvidia, amd, and do not use the integrated graphics from cpu like the intel UHD 620."
Exactly what they said in the webinar yesterday - you need a dedicated graphics card with at least 2GB of VRAM. If you only have Intel integrated graphics then ON1 will continue to use only the CPU.
