2019.5 crashes constantly after using HDR
After a good start two days ago, today when I wanted to create an HDR- picture based upon 5 originals the process crashed several times when it tried to write the end result.
Since then On1 crashes on the most unexpected moments: during startup, switching to edit, going back to browse, going to locsl adjustments, etc.
I submitted a crash report, but I am curious if there are more use with the same experience. I am on an older Mac with 16gb ram and 1gb video ram.
Anyway, I hope it will be repaired fast.

I cannot create HDR. 3 images raw, i edit the parameters, and when click save, Booom, crash. totally crashed.
I already sent to support this info and the logs.
Windows 10, fresh computer...
I've so many photos to make hdr, and i cannot process any of them :(0 -
Yes experience lots of crashes, very random, crashes even when just browsing

This may or may not help you, but I've recently installed 2019.5 and the first thing I did was add my photos folder containing about 50,000 photos to the browser. I then started playing around with navigating and editing my photos and ON1 crashed on me several times at random. Performance was also sluggish even though I'm on a newer iMac Pro with 64GB of RAM, 2 TB SSD, etc.
I noticed ON1 was doing lots of work in the background (creating thumbnails, indexing things, etc.) so I restarted it and just let it run without trying to interact with it until the activity stopped the next day. Now that it's done indexing it seems very stable and I haven't had another crash.
I also have ON1 on a 2013 MacPro laptop and had the same issue there--lots of crashes until it was done with its indexing process, then it got very stable.
Can't say for sure, but it seems like a lot of the issues I see on this forum may be related to background indexing and creation of thumbnails. At least it's an easy thing to try. Just wait until a process monitor shows ON1 is done hogging your disk and CPU, then start editing and see if the crashes go away.

HDR always crashes. Windows 10, fresh install, ON1 only installed. No catalogs or indexing.

I have the same problem as the original poster. On1 2019.5 will crash on saving an HDR almost every time - very frustrating.
I too am using an iMac 27inch (Model14,2) 16 Gb RAM 1Gb video card

Hmm, I just created an HDR from 5 large tiff files, did lots of editing, saved the image, created another from 3 different files, worked with it, saved it, did some more browsing and editing, all with no problems. The most obvious difference is I have 64GB of RAM, but I had Activity Monitor open the whole time and never saw ON1's RAM usage go above about 6GB.
I know that doesn't help much if your system is crashing. Just providing another data point.

I have continued to test some variables with 2019.5 crashing on saving an HDR. I am using 3 x Canon CR2 RAW files from a Canon 80D (24 Megapixel images).
I have tried turning off fast panning and GPU Render in Performance preferences. Tried emptying the browse cache. Quitting any other applications that might be running etc...
On1 2019.5 seems to reach a maximum of 2.4Gb RAM usage during the save process before it crashes. It does not crash every time but certainly more often than not - very unstable in this version. It seems to be using around 572 Mb when idle. As indicated earlier I have an iMac ( 27 inch late 2013) with 16GB RAM. My images are stored on an external USB 3 hard drive.
Not sure if this information adds anything to solving the puzzle but I hope On1 fixes the issue soon.

Graeme,
Good to read your findings.
This being a user to user forum, it's not sure the guys and girls from On1 read your findings. Did you report them to them?0 -
Martin,
I have submitted a support request and sent several crash reports. On1 support indicate they will be "releasing an update very soon" and advise I can roll back to the previous version.
In the meantime I have reverted back to 2019.2 this morning. I will test further to see if the issues remain with this older version. (They didn't before 2019.5)

Yeah, my experience too. Just upgraded to 2019.5 today. Seems very unstable compared to the previous version, almost like something to expect from a beta release. Crashes at random, very sluggish and non-responsive. On a iMac 27" 2013 32gb ram. Will probably roll back to the previous version until next fix comes out.

On1 crashes every time I try HDR no mateer whea parameters I choose or how many images. What is the fix for this. I have submitted the crash reports as they come up on the screen when I reinitate On1. Please help. Using Photomatix with On1 is more cumbersome.
