2019.5 Lockup
When I start editing an image I can go so far and then 2019.5 gives me the hour glass and just sits there. I have to close the program and go back in. I even loose all my adjustments as a result. Not sure what needs to be done other than going back to Lightroom. I can not even run it as a plug-in to Lightroom. I up graded my system to 1 TB SSD. 16 Meg memory, and my NVIDIA 3D graphics card has 4 Meg of memory. I even run a separate SSD scratch disk. I love using ON1 but it has never run right since the release of 2019. Any suggestions on what is causing 2019 to crash all the time?

Don't forget to report this to On1 with details of what happens and when. Include the info mentioned in this link.

I've also experienced 3 abrupt crashes since installing 2019.5. All three were totally without warning. One moment, I was performing an edit or deleting an image or browsing, then all of a sudden I was staring at my desktop wallpaper. The next time it happens (and it will), I'll submit a trouble report to tech support.

Mine were also without warning but my screen froze and did not return to the desktop. I had to do a manual shutdown of the software. It is a great program, just to many bugs.

John, Just want to point out that your condition is not a crash. Terrys is a crash, yours is just 'not responding'. It's still a problem, but it should be described properly.

Understand, though I have had earlier versions of 2019 crash. I called my topic a LockUp because it locks my whole computer. I have to do a ctr;/alt/del and end program with Task Manager to get my computer to run. So it is not technically a "non responsive" program it if locks up your computer. Maybe I didn't describe it properly here but I did in my technical support request.

Maybe the followings is a solution but very frustrating for 2019.5 freezing screen ???
1/ backup all your images folders
2/ try to delete all the ON1-Files in the folder you've just experienced freezing or lock up with 2019.5
3/ start 2019.5 again
I hope this will help!!!

Tri.....
After updating my nvidia GPU to latest firmware and reinstalling 2019.5, I deleted all the ON1 sidecar files. So, when I chose that folder in the browse mode, yes, it was as if I was accessing the folder for the first time. Here's the scenario that freezes up still (just experienced it a few minutes ago before seeing your submission).
I start editing a raw file. Toward the end of the session, I magnify the image. If I attempt to go to another raw without un-magnifying the image I was editing, the program will often freeze or take an inordinate time to load the next image. If, instead, of going to the next image, I choose to delete the next image, it will freeze 75% of the time. If, on the other hand, I un-magnify before leaving the image I had been editing, the program will open the next image, albeit slowly. I also have no problems with image deletions as previously described.
I still maintain that ON1 2019.5 was either not fully beta tested and stressed, or it's just buggy? In either case, it's not living up to expectations, IMHO, and shouldn't have been released.
Needless to say, I'm hoping a maintenance release is in the cards to stabilize the program and finally add some additional lens profiles.

Terry ...
sorry to hear that. It does work for me until now. But I fully agree with you. ON1 2019.5 not living up to expectations.

Mine crashes every time I try to open either as a standalone or as a plugin. It is telling me that a file I wasn't trying to open is corrupt and will be ignored, then it shuts down. I notice that now when you click on the icon, there is a list of 'recents.' None of these files exist where they were when I edited them and have no need to open them again. Apparently, ON1 is trying to for some reason.
That coupled with the fact that my edits get lost on export half the time gives me no option but to uninstall and wait for the next buggy, untested release.
Adobe has to be loving this

I'm having the same problem with 2019.5 locking up. Mine locked up during export. I did not have this problem with the previous version (2019.2) and just recently upgraded to 2019.5.
I use On1 as a standalone. When I experienced the lockup I was editing a couple of photos and exporting them for screen use. The first photos exported with no problems. After editing the last photo, the export screen was unresponsive as was the rest of the program. Ultimately, I had to force quit the program and have not used it since.
I work on a MacBook Pro 2017 with 16gb of RAM and a Radeon Pro 560 dedicated graphics card. No problems with other graphics programs.

I read in another similar crashing/freezing post here on support where an ON1 tech support representative responded to a poster that ON1 is aware of the issues... and that a maintenance release should be available soon to address the problems. I laud their response but all could have been avoided with a rigorous test program with folks other than ON1 developers at the keyboards.

Anyone in the Plus program can help Beta test if they want to. A lot of problems were found and fixed that way. It's not just On1 developers.

Rick, I have beta tested several versions of ON1. However, I did not get a chance to beta test 19.5. I had similar issues with 19.2 but most of those were resolved. I have been in touch with Tech support and after several go rounds as possible fixes nothing worked. I got an email this morning telling me there seems to be a problem with the Intel 500 series chipsets. The developers are working on it and a fix should be available soon. The last problem I had took six months to get fixed!

I did another clean install and it seems to be stable now. I've done a clean install with each upgrade, so not sure what changed on this one.
One thing I would love to see is options on the plugins. I'd rather have it as a plugin than an external editor, but I don't need. 5 or 6 of them clogging up my list.

I am having the same problem crashing all the time, I updated my NVIDIA driver the latest; I have more than enough memory in the computer. All started since the 2019.5 update. Has anybody heard any response from ON1. An answer is needed particularly now when some people are about to abandon Adobe LR and PS

Alejandro, yes, ON1 is aware of this issue and it should be resolved in the upcoming update.

ON1 has acknowledged the issues in another paying I saw. Supposedly working the issue and hope to have fix soon. I'll believe it when I see it

Alejandro, Just to be sure did you update your video card driver directly from the Nvidia site? If so did you update it through Nvidia GeForce experience? I have heard some have had good results by checking Custom install then check "Clean Install" at the bottom of the Custom Install dialog. I haven't done this but I would think you would need to go into the Nvidia control panel and setup the card for On1 second image below
