I haven’t heard anything, but imo it would be a wise move if we receive an update with repairs every few weeks instead of one big one in 2 or 3 months. That might prevent current users to run back to their old software or try a different RAW converter.

In Whitney's video yesterday, she mentioned an update would be out soon.

2019.5 doesn't work on my Mac, the program freezes or hangs, is slow, especially with brushes.

I like On1 PR very much, but I have now decided to stop with it and stay with Capture One and Photoshop, although this workflow is not very convenient.

Maybe I come back when there is a version that is stable and fast.

Pretty much my same thoughts, Herman.  I like the product, but it's really nice and shiny outside, but the insides need so much more work. Bugs and workarounds I can deal with, but inconsistent results drive me crazy. It's like having a real nice looking car, but every time you go to use it you are always unsure if will start, or leave you stranded on the road.

Here's my 2¢: Everyone wants the update ASAP but when one is released too quickly and it contains bugs everyone gets upset about how poor the update is. (That is a metaphorical "everybody", I'm not pointing any fingers here.) Hang in there, they are working on getting rid of as many of the reported bugs as they can. Let's let them get it right.

Hi Brian, in my opinion we let them get it right for some years.
Bugs that were fixed reappeared in a newer version, the difference between the
browse and the edit preview is years old but still exists. For me it‘s enough, I have no confidence that PR will become a good functioning program within a couple of years.

Bill and Brian, I agree with you but I think with releasing 2019.5 they would have to fix the bugs and make the software faster and then develop new features, because now they increase the complexity of software and I think they have more difficult to optimize and improve the performance.

This is a company, from what I can gather, like other companies, that is driven by Marketing, to get the next release out ASAP so there is revenue coming in. Their preorder campaigns drives some income in and they build the excitement with controlled demo videos and such.  They speak of getting rid of the Adobe subscription model, but ON1 just charges for an update once a year, ready or not. I remember back when I was in the software industry, our head of marketing had a sign on her wall "Sell the Prototype"  How true this seems in this situation.  Some of the bugs and issues that were prevalent since the release of 2019 are so obvious it's hard to believe this software went through any deep testing, maybe automated regression testing but not sure if many real people banged on it or these issues would have come to light.  Only my opinion. I do know that I loaded this version, 2019 on my old HP Windows 10 Powerbook that has a SSD drive and many of the same issues especially slowness and lagging were also showing up.

There is a patch update coming to ON1 Photo RAW 2019.5 soon.

Bill Posner, I can empathize with your experiences I wasn't thrilled with the performance previous versions of On1 .

That said, and I know you don't want to hear this, I just built a Windows 10 machine with clean install of everything and 2019.5 performs extremely well on this machine. I cannot find one thing to complain about. Not trying to defend them but I don't envy On1. They've developed a very sophisticated product that people are running on everything from OLD Windows 7 and old versions of Mac OS to the latest and greatest machines.

David, Actually I'm thrilled to hear this!  There is hope yet!  However, I have 4 photographer friends that have been using On1 on various machines, mostly newer, MAC and WIn10 OS and they are all having lag, and weird results.  I compared a simple Adobe Bridge, LR, ON1 Browse and DarkTable review of just opening a 1500 image folder, with mostly RAW, TIFF and JPG files and ON1 was a minimum of 3 times slower just browsing a folder.  Adobe Bridge (which was a new installation) was the fastest and just ate up the folder and displayed the thumbnails really fast.  One of my folders has 5,000 photos and ON1 just chokes and dies, where the other programs take a while but they get it done within 3-4 minutes first time in.

There has got to be one or two tweaks that us that are having problems performance problems we either got wrong or don't know where they are.   I've removed and reinstalled ON1 many times, and like I've said before I spend more time reinstalling and troubleshooting than actually using the program.

I'm starting to think the one issue with reading the file folders is a poorly optimized indexing system, as the other programs mentioned don't seem to have this issue.  Thanks again for the great news that it's working well.

"I'm starting to think the one issue with reading the file folders is a poorly optimized indexing system"

    Bill, I think you're right.
I had an Imac 2012 core I7 and now an Imac 2019 Core I9 and the performance increase was not so great.
When you click on a photo it takes at least 5 seconds to load the photo .... or when I delete a photo I wait at least 20 seconds before I can do something.

@Luca, I have a background, and mean way back, in designing, programming database searches. So this looks like, as I said from the UI that there is a core issue with the way it indexes.  It's funny to access the same folder, with two systems at the same time, Bridge and ON1 or LR and ON1 and the difference is somewhat mind-boggling.  Of course, this is in no way a controlled test and is only on one machine, but the difference shouldn't be that dramatic. Anyway, it's a waiting game now.   Because I live about 3 hours outside of Portland on the coast, I've offered to bring my machine to their offices more than once and let the developers debug on it, but they never accepted.

Can we get an ON1 definition of "soon" please?

Bill, a new beta was posted today for Plus members. They don't do that until they believe the program is close to being released and want users to look at the things which have been fixed for further testing.

It is working very well for me. Still a couple of issues I've reported but nothing that cannot be worked around.

no fixes in buggy software, still crash, still can't export under 20 minutes, results are not consistent. Have to be force quit multiple times.  I've sent multiple files, screenshots, logs, videos.   no resolutions

20 minutes to do an export is a long time. What kind of system are you running, how much RAM, which graphics processor? Have you moved the program's scratch space to a dedicated SSD? That will give a major boost to its performance.

Hey Brian, I have a 2014 MAC 16gb mem, 1gig drive internal and 5tb External. I run some pretty intensive software including Blender, PS, DaVinci Resolve, All run great even many being open and running at the same time, no issues. ON1 is the ONLY software product that throws a fit, in fact, it's the only software that throws a Swamp+Mem error on my system,  and the idea of changing the hardware to fit the use of a commercial photo editing software is laughable, this is obviously app development issues.  I've seen similar issues of bad ports of Windows-based software to MAC OS.   I wonder what On1 is going to do with the upcoming Catalina and the new SDK from Apple?   It's a shame, I've used this product since v.8 and it had some pretty unique features, but they tried to change too much too soon and users are suffering, trying to be the Adobe replacement.  OMG I couldn't even think of the Disaster of working on time-sensitive client projects using ON1 as my base. I'd be out of business.
