Some examples of the issues you are having would go a long way to helping answer your question. Not knowing what kind of problems you are having makes it difficult to say if they've been fixed or not.

    1.  When exporting an image to affinity photo On1 exported an image that was quite blurry and unusable, although the original was quite clear.

    2. When exporting a jpg for the screen, On1 exported an image that had all sorts of artifacts not present in the original.  It looked like a jpg that had been exported at the least possible quality rather that 100% as exported.

    3.  Exporting was not consistent, sometimes it would take a long time, some times it would be almost immediate, sometime the quality would be okay, sometimes not.  I could determine no correlation between the results and the time processing, or when I would get bad results.

I don't have Affinity so I can't test anything with it, sorry. When you say "exporting an image to affinity" how did you go about doing that? Did you use the Export command or the Send to command?

What are the export settings you are using? Can you post a screen shot of the Export pane please?

Exporting in the background does take longer than exporting directly and being unable to continue using the software while the export takes place. This is to be expected as less of the processor is used while in the background. Another factor that can affect it is the filters you've used. I've noticed an image with Dynamic Contrast takes longer than without. Again, I would expect this as there is far more pixel processing happening with that filter.

Have you contacted support about this yet? Send them one of your images you're having trouble with and be sure to include the ON1 log file.

I no longer have 2019.5 on my machine, so I can't do a lot of what you ask.  Regards to exporting times, all of this was in the background, the only setting I used, I still got variable times (and I mean sometime with in a few seconds, and sometimes quite a long time as with 2019.2).  With regards to affinity, that was with the send parameter, set up I think for 16 bit tiff.  Finally, I had filed a burst of complaints regarding exporting/sending problems when 2019.5 came out until finally gave up and went back 2019.2.  I didn't keep any of the degraded output that I had produced so I can't send that either.

Here are some of the ticket numbers: 193159, 190742, 190346

Thanks but the ticket numbers don't do me much good, I'm another user like you. :) I just try to help.

Keep an eye on what other background processes are running when you export. Some other program could be putting a load on the system. Turn off any anti-virus and malware scanning of the program's  scratch folder and image cache folder. See if any of that helps.

Look, my strategy here is pretty simple, I don't want to update unless a problem I had with the earlier version has been fixed.  I figured that if I put this thread out here, and people were still having problems, they would see it and comment.  It's not like I'm getting a flood of comments saying others are having problems, so maybe it's fixed.  I'm just taking a wait and see attitude.

I completely understand Greg and I don't blame you at all. Sorry if I gave you another impression.

I say try for yourself and see.  You can always go back.  Personally, the new version still exports every photo way cooler than it looks when I’m processing it.  But everything does seem way faster.  Ultimately, it’s useless since the export looks completely different.  I’ve only heard a couple people say the had this problem.

I ran the beta alongside the .5 version by changing the name of the program and its enclosing folder to ON1 PhotoRAW 2019.2. The beta was installed to the usual name. Be sure to leave the Remove Older Versions option turned off. Also, if you use the Photoshop, Lightroom, or Photos plug-ins you might want to keep a copy of them somewhere safe before running the installer. Should you decide to go back put the .2 plug-ins back in place and use that version of the program.

Thanks Brian for the info.  I probably won't do that but I appreciate you letting me know.  There isn't much that I really wanted in 2019.5 or by extension 2019.5.1, and the fact that 2019.5 and 2019.2 sidecar files aren't compatible makes it problematic to run both version concurrently (at least for me).
