Slow Switchig Directories

The latest version 2019.5 ver 7136  has slowed down in the Browser. When I switch from one directory to another it is very slow and you get a message box... "searching layers".  Now if the new directory is small... say 10 photos.. then it is fast. However... if there 30+ files it is so slow one would think it is hung. No other action can take place. An when I say slow... it is over 2+ minutes. Time is related to number of files. I run 2019.2 and perform the same process and it works fast on switching to any directory.
