I took the survey, I was very surprised to see that they are considering a subscription option considering how much negative attention that seems to get. Personally I'd never go for that and would move on if that's they way things go.

Re the upgrade question the only thing I don't like about ON1 is it's voracious need for power & top of line computers. I've had to roll back to 2019.2 which seems to be the end of the line for me, my machine is not that old but it wont run .5 or .6 versions. So as far as I'm concerned I wont be able to upgrade even if I wanted to unless I buy a new PC.

it did not seem to me that there was talk of a subscription in this survey, since the argument repeated at every turn is that you pay only once, and that there will be no subscription.

As for the upgrade, for me it will be no, ON 1 has too many bugs, freezes, and problems for us to use serenely. What are the new features of each new version of ON1, if bugs listed on older versions are ALWAYS NOT fixed on the new one. No French version, tutos in English, it tires me.

I have a version LR 6 and CS6 (perpetual licenses), which have never caused me any problems, and which are significantly superior to ON1. (selection tools, text, etc.).  I still use the 10.5.2 version of ON1 as a filter of PS CS6. . On PSD files, this version of ON1 used as a local filter and retouching does wonders.

I am dead set against a license via subscription.  One of the primary reasons I use On1 is because it doesn't use a subscription model, and if it were to change to one, I would simply stay with the version I have now and start actively looking for a DAM replacement.

Also On1 should probably spend more time fixing the features it has rather than striving to incorporate new ones.

What's the delivery method for this survey? I've not seen it.

Email. There is an On1 Plus user survey too.

I saw the Plus user survey but not the one asking about subscription plans. I would have voted that down in a heartbeat.

I haven’t seen the email but it sounds like they are testing the water for an Adobe-style scam. Adobe are past masters at saying we have fixed all the problems but you will have to buy the next upgrade to get them. ON1 is good but it has some issues that are unresolved. Those of us who have purchased the 2019 edition in good faith, and stuck with it, deserve to have those issues fixed before the next upgrade is released.

Just to be clear as I started this post. I received the survey as an email. There were 2 questions and I can't remember exactly what they were but one was how likely I was to upgrade later in the year and the other was asking why I answered "unlikely". There was no mention (to my recollection) of subscription model. I can't see the survey again as I've already completed it.

The questions presented may depend upon the answers given to previous questions.

Good point Brian. I answered that I was unlikely to buy a new version and was then asked why. I wasn't suggesting someone else didn't see anything about subscriptions, I am simply saying I didn't and as the OP I wanted to make this clear.

If they make a subscription, why not  stay  on Adobe ?  (LR + PS).......For almost the  same price and a version by year), ADOBE is better.

The survey did most definitely mention the possibility of a subscription - the question dealt with your preference for whether you would rather pay a cheaper price (I think $69) for a 1-year subscription vs. upgrading to a new release for $79.  There was some type of disclaimer before the question that said ON1 would always be available to purchase as stand-alone software, or words to that affect.

To clarify my earlier comments, I received a two question survey (I am not an On1 plus member), which asked two questions, one concerning new features and one concerning a subscription based model of purchase.  I do not remember the exact wording of either question.

Since there seems to be quite a bit of confusion here, maybe the good people at On1 could print the questions used in the survey here, and maybe the results also.

My guess is that a subscription based model would not be popular with On1 users because I believe that a lot of them are like me, refugees from Adobe looking for a viable alternative.

There are different surveys going out to select members. Not everyone will receive a survey, and the questions on each survey are different. There is no need for any confusion, this is simply a survey of your opinions. This is what one of the surveys said, for those who received one:

"ON1 currently offers a perpetual license for ON1 Photo RAW. You purchase once and can use it as long as you like. Each year you have the option to purchase an upgrade that adds new features and support for new cameras, lenses and operating systems.

Keep in mind, that ON1 will always offer a traditional one-time purchase option.

If you decided to purchase ON1 Photo RAW and had multiple purchase options to choose from, which of the following would you prefer?"

I did not receive a Survey asking if was planning to update to the next release.  If I had, my answer would be a firm "NO".

I've been an On1 user even before the changeover to RAW in 2017.  Plenty of features promised  -- but not delivered.  Plenty of bugs still remain after 2 years.  Only with PR2019.6.1 have I received the product I signed up for in 2017, in terms of use-ability and performance (perhaps).

Too much aggravation.  Think that I'll wait for a while and see how the future goes for On1.
