EGPU with On1

Has anyone had an experience in using On1 2019 with an EGPU? I' particularly interested to know if there's any discernible performance boost before I invest in one. I'm currently running  A 2014 MAC MINI

  There is no info anywhere on this site about EGPU. All we know are the posted GPU specs. You can send On1 a message and ask them if you want to. If you get an answer back, let us know.

  There is a submit link at the bottom of this page or on the HELP menu.

  I'd like to know too. From what I can tell they should work as the OS just makes them available as another GPU that applications can make use of. You may have to use a program like the shareWare gfxCardStatus to manually select the external GPU if the program doesn't use it by default. It's kind of old but still runs on Mojave in the Menubar.

  This is all speculation on my part.

  There is a checkbox to Prefer External GPU. (Mojave)

  As you can see from the attachment of the activity monitor, it uses it.

  I got a response on this question from On1...

  For this situation it is hard to say if there could be a discernible performance boost while using ON1 Photo RAW 2019.
  While it is likely to be beneficial, it is not something we have tested for when developing the software.
  You are welcome to try it and see and even report your findings if you'd like.

  On1 may not have the exact matchup of graphics cards/chips that you have but they should be able to provide more information on what the performance difference is between running on an onboard chip vs. a dedicated card. Whether that's an eGPU or internal card does not matter, that is handled at the OS level and would be transparent to an application. What does matter though is how much or for what tasks PhotoRAW uses GPU acceleration. This could be a significant performance boost depending on the task.
