Cheryl, I see you say you configured Nvidia to use the video card nut just to be sure since you have 2019 and 2020 installed have you configured it for each one?

I just did it for 2019 since the 2020 is a trial beta version that will expire in a few days

If your PC is shutting down, it might be something overheating. If your new card has a way of checking the temperature, let that run while using the PC.

Cheryl, you might want to try setting the Nvidia control panel for 2020. Even though you only have one video card installed you probably have a GPU integrated in your CPU or motherboard. If you don't set it up for 2020 you might not get the results you could and not see the full impacts of improvements in 2020. It's my understanding the Beta will run until the final release.

I have also reported an issue with NVIDIA driver v436.30 (latest) that is causing crashes with 2019.6 and my GTX1050/4GB, the last working version which you need to rollback to is Studio version 431.86 release date 2019/09/04. If you have NVIDIA GeForce Experience installed go to Drivers, Select Studio Drivers from the "..." on the right hand side of CHECK FOR UPDATES, select that a check for updates, download and install.

It has been reported to support.

Cheyl, If you do roll back or reinstall your Nvidia driver do it through the GEforce experience app. Select Custom install and when the attached dialog pops up be sure to select "Clean Install" in the lower left corner. I don't remember but you may need to re-add On1 in the Nvidia control panel after a clean install.

FYI David you no longer need to do a clean install if you use GeForce Experience.

Try also to disable internal GPU in bios. It helped me with performance issues, maybe will help you with shut-downs.
