This is a known issue with certain camera raw formats, preview size and thumbnail can have magenta or chromatic aberration looking colors until the full raw file is loaded (when you zoom to 100).

We're working on a fix for this problem.

Are you viewing your images in Fast or Accurate mode? Fast mode displays the embedded jpg while Accurate actually renders the image. Does changing the mode make any difference?

You're not saying if you're using Fast or Accurate mode when viewing. If Accurate, it takes a few seconds for the image to render. Until then you'll see a less accurate version.

    From page 25

Raw Preview Mode: Lets you set how you would like to view photos in Detail mode. Fast
will use embedded previews from the photos, while Accurate will generate a colour-balanced
    preview.

I'm using accurate. Neither mode seems to affect the problem. No matter how long I wait the chromatic aberration does not go away until I zoom in on the image. Once I do that, it goes away about a second later.

If you can reproduce that consistently, you should report it to On1 support. They'll need examples of before and after (screenshots?) and they might ask you to send a file for evaluation. There is a Submit link at the bottom of this page. Also, include the info requested here...

    Nathan,
That sounds exactly like the issue I am seeing. Since my issue is completely reproducible, please let me know if I can give any additional information that might help including submitting a case. Hoping to see a fix before my evaluation period runs out ;)...27 more days!

I have this same issue as well with Panasonic G9 RW2 files.

Same here, but my take is this:

    - When I preview (set to Accurate) an image the complete raw image (CR3) is not loaded/processed until I zoom into the image

    - When I zoom into the image I get a progress bar telling me it is processing the image. After a few seconds the image is processed and is displayed properly, and with chromatic aberration removed

It seems to me that the Accurate preview is simply a rough display of the raw data, not a complete raw data processed image. That would explain that the chromatic aberration is not removed until you zoom into the image, i.e. force the software to actually process the image. Am I wrong?

Edvard, well, that's not how it's supposed to be. The Accurate setting is supposed to show an accurate view of your RAW file, but until the accurate view renders, you'll see the embedded JPG file. The render can take longer than you might expect, for me, on a new photo that's not cached, it might take 30 seconds. So I'm wondering if you're waiting long enough for the accurate view to appear. You should actually see the image change when it does.

I've tried this approach now, watching carefully to see if I can spot when the image renders. I can not, i.e. it doesn't.

    This is what I do:

    1) In Browse mode I'm viewing images in Filmstrip view

    2) Click an image in the filmstrip view

    3) Wait 1 minute, the image never seems to render

    4) Click the image to zoom in, the image starts rendering after 1 second, after 4-5 seconds the image is rendered nicely

I can repeat step 2-4 on any image not already rendered. It seems to only render when I force it to by zooming in on the image. You say it might take 30 seconds. I see no reason why it should take that long to render the image (it takes 5 seconds when you force it to). I'm usually browsing the images to check my focus to reject/keep an image, so zooming in is part of my workflow. Without zooming in I really don't have time to sit and wait more than a minute for the image to render (if it even does, I can't be bothered to wait any longer to see if it does). :)

Edvard I see the same thing. I can let the image sit all day and until I zoom in it doesn't go away. I am also set to Accurate Raw Previews and have my images cataloged.

I can also confirm that I am seeing the exact same symptoms that Edvard describes with my RW2 files.

Any news? I am also experiencing this problem. RAW Sony A7 & RX100Va. Extremely annoying :-(

I'm having the same problem with Olympus Pen-F ORF Raw files.  It just started with the 2020.1 update yesterday.

Chris, if this is a new problem in 2020.1 then you should report it to On1. Open a support request and attach examples of the problem.

I've done that.  I just thought I would mention it here as well.

Been like this for me for years (.CR2). I have learnt to live with it.

    Hello !

Here are 2 crops of the same RAW Sony I shot yesterday, even with some tries (Raw is not edited, just out from camera) I see orange-red fringe between sky and yellow panel, fringe which is not so important with Capture 1 for Sony (free program for Sony cameras only); if I edit, make somme exposure etc adjustments ans export in jpg, the fringe is still very present. So what ? You can also see the sharpness and grain are better in C1 than in ON1 (2020.1.1). Edit: Sorry I post here but I Mac user, I thought it was General discussion.

    Thanks

Today from cr2-raw files.  before and after zoom. Is there an expected fix-date?

You'll have to ask support about any possible fixes or release date for them. The support forums are for user to user support and we don't have access to that kind of info.

Use the Submit a request link below and include the information requested in this article: https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018405111-How-to-submit-a-problem-to-ON1-Tech-Support-A-Step-by-step-Guide

If you want to include one of your .cr2 files for them to look at you'll have to zip it and upload that to a sharing site like Dropbox, WeTransfer, Google Drive, etc. then include the download link in your message to support.

    Dear Brian

As Nathan, an official ON1 Support Manager 3 months ago wrote that it is a known issue, I gather that it would be in his and the communities interest to show that the issue persist and here ask when something will be done about the programming error.

Had he not commented, I would have chosen the way you suggest, but I will recommend you to read the thread before writing your response next time.

Now I have 800 photos to sort, and have just given up on ON1 for that purpose, also because of the silly response you gave.

Sorry not to follow your advice.

    Kim

And the problem remains in ON1 2021.  Perhaps this is intended to be a feature?

For users seeing magenta in blown out areas of your photo in fit view, the next update should address this bug. Thanks for your patience.
