PerfectBrowse and Photosettings Caches are huge
Hi,
Don't really understand how ON1 2020 manage the caches... And all I can read here is not very enlightening.
I have empty the PerfectBrowse Cache in the Preferences number of times. It is set on another drive than the system-app drive.
However it is still around 200 Go (!). Maybe is it due to ancient 2019 version workflow. Don't know.
How do I deal with this? Can I trash it?...
Besides, on my system-app SSD Library/ApplicationSupport/ON1/ON1 Photo RAW 2020/ is a Photosettings Cache which weighs around 30 Go.
What are these files for? Can we delete them from time to time? How?
And last but not least: how to get rid of the old 2019 version? Just trashing it with related 2019 PR files and directory?
Thanks for your help

In addition to Brians comments, if you re-create your catalogues, see page 26 of the 2020 user guide first for options to reduce the size of the catalogue.

You can trash it but it will get rebuilt as you browse your photos collection. The PerfectBrowseCache is where the program stores all the preview images the browser uses to display your photos for you.
I have a small 120GB external SSD I use exclusively for ON1's Scratch space and the PerfectBrowseCache. I only have around 13k photos so my cache is not nearly as large as yours, ~16GB or so; you'll need something larger if your cache is routinely growing to 200GB or more.
Do not delete the Photosettings cache folder! I'm not positive but I believe that is the database that stores your edits.
To completely remove 2019 from your system drag the ON1 Photo RAW 2019 application to the trash if it is still there. After that go to the Application Support/ON1 folders in both ~/Library & /Library (your home directory Library and the OS's) and trash any folders there that you find with 2019 in their names. The old preferences files get left behind as well so go to ~/Library/Preferences and delete all the com.ononesoftware files you find with 2019 in their names.
