Performance Issues - Win10 - HP Pavilion Desktop 595-p0xxx
Hi everyone,
I'm using Win10 latest release with the following harware
Prozessor AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor, 3400 MHz, RAM: 16 GB, 256 PCI-SSD as system device, HDD (7200rpm) as data device. Radeon RX 580 Series GPU with 8GB RAM.
My problem is, that I'm having performance issues like jumping brushes, ffreezing picture etc. Currently 2019.6 is not usable. Develop tab, clicking "Auto", 2019.6 not responding, one minute, then the click takes effect. Brushing masks impossible, the is jumping around like a rabbit in the field. I did all what was adviced/described in knowledge base resp. what the support answered. Since I installed 2020 beta it's yet worse. In 2020 I have the problem, when I start brushing, the pic freezes, looks blury, the brush itself is smooth.
Is anybody here having similar/same issues and especially hardware? Because, in the KB is this graphic card not listet, all I did was adding the programms in the game setting tab, but I got no idea what I should turn on or off of all these different settings. What is relevant for a programm like PhotoRAW? Does anyone have a RX580 series and can help me?
Thanks

Markus, Regarding the image going blurry, try turning off Fast Preview in preferences.

You said you did all that was advised in the database, but i don't know what that was. Make sure this is done properly...

@David: Thx, seems to work. I will try some more pics, filters etc.
@Rick: Yes, that was one of the articles. I will try it again. It's not PhotoRAW that is causing the problems, it has something to do with the hardware. I think I'll have to contact AMD support as well, hope they can tell me, what to do where in the GPU settings. It's the latest drivers that are installed and I added both versions to the "Gaming Settings"-Area. Here is a screenshot of the setting section for 2020, maybe there is someone that can tell me, turn this on, that off etc. Everything I found regarding "Performance" I've set to performance.
Thanks so far!

Another thing you can check is to open Windows settings (not Control panel) and search for Graphics Settings. Make sure On1 is on the list and set to High performance.

Where does one find Windows settings?
0 -
Click START, then the gear icon.

Easiest way to get there - in the Windows Search box Just type in Graphics Settings and press enter
Or long way To add to Rick's comments,
Start
Gear Icon
select System
Select Display
Scroll down if needed then select "Graphics Setting"

I don't have a gear icon. Are you guys on Win 10?

Yes Win 10, it's right above the Power icon.

Hast Du schon 2020 Beta versucht? Oder die Vollversion?
Did you already try 2020 version?

Well, I'm on Win 7 and none of the stuff you guys are talking about exists there.

Jim, high performance is a Win 10 option, but you don't need win 10 for this...

@Rick: Ok, thanks, yes, there where none of them added, added both, 2019 and 2020. I will see how it works. Yesterday evening 2020 worked well. Thanks!
@Pawel: Ich hab noch die 2020 beta.
@all who are looking for what Rick mentioned concerning Graphic Settings in Win10. Left corner clicking Windows Icon (Start), then above that ON/OFF ist the Icon for Windows-Settings. In Windows setting search for Graphic settings, then you'll get there and you can add the programs you want and set the performance to high.

Hi everyone,
so, 2020 seems to work properly . 2019 is still unusable. If I uninstall (control panel -> programs...) and then install it again, is that sufficient enough, or should I do it, as descripted in this article https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/206500417-Uninstall-the-ON1-Software-Products
And if I follow the KB instuctions, it will remove all, all files, also the installation of 2020, right?!

Markus, that script would uninstall 2019 and 2020 at the same time. Here is a set of instructions for removing 2019...

Hello again,
got to ask something else concerning performance. Just wanted to edited some files taken few weeks ago. Actually I can't complain about the performance in 2020, but the files in that folder seems to make problems. I didn't change any of the settings. The folder in question contains 2.761 files (raw & sidecar) an 13 subfolders, size ca. 44 GB. The problem is, that it last extremly long, until a file (edited or not doesn't matter) opens in edit module, and also opening a subfolder in browser lasts; searching, searching... Some already edited files look strange in browser and opening last really long, 2020 not responding. Had to kill the task. After that, starting 2020 again, and the strange looking files in browser are looking normal, open in edit module - nomal, behaviour when changing subfolders normal. What is causing that behaviour? To much in one folder, to big? I changed the location, or better, were moving the folders within the main folder, to get a better structure. Does that matter? Any tips?
Thanks!
