You can scale it. You can make it bigger, rotate it, flip it and move it around. What do you need that it doesn't do?

Yeah, you can make it larger, but it's too big to start.  How do you make it smaller?  That's the key.

Select a smaller one from the texture list and/or adjust the amount slider to lessen the effect.

That's not an acceptable solution.  I need to scale it, period.  I can't believe this was overlooked.

John, just curious are you working on a cropped photo? If you are do you have "Fit to Canvas" selected? If not try turning it on.

I agree with John Montes Jr comments. He is correct this filter needs scalling I have used it on landscapes but becasue the sun star was too big to start off it was useless !

You need to be able to scale it to fit the photo, this needs sorting out to make it a much better filter , one can that be used on any type of photo.

There is scaling, it's just that you can only make it bigger. Why don't you bring that up with On1 and see if it's supposed to be that way or not?

John, there is a knowledge base article on how to submit a report that you should also read. It explains how to include some log files and system info the techs need to go with your report. https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018405111-How-to-submit-a-problem-to-ON1-Tech-Support-A-Step-by-step-Guide

John, did you submit a ticket? I've run into the exact same problem where I found a sunstar I liked but it was *way* too big for the image. I just bailed and didn't add one at all. It would have added a lot to the image if I was able to scale it smaller.

If you did submit a ticket, can you share the link? I'd like to add my support to the request :)

This "future" feature could be used to illuminate streetlights, lighthouses, etc.  Having this scalable and being able to add multiple small sun flares on one layer would be a tremendous feature.

Greg, can't help with the scaling, but you can already add as many sun flares as you like to a photo and they will be all on one layer.

Rick you are missiong the point tell onRaw to make the filter scalable and make it useful instead of what we have now.  Tell us how to make a request to make OnRaw better,  you must listen to your users  ...

John, first, I'm a user like you and I don't work for On1.

Second, the point was to inform GREG that he can use multiple flares as he requested. So, no, not missing the point.

If YOU want to request this feature from On1, the only way is to go to the Ideas page and either vote for it if it's already there or add that idea for others to vote on.

I just watched Dylan Kotecki's video "Transforming a Day Time Photo into a Moody Night Scene". He shoes a great method to use a sun flare to highlight a street light using layers. This method accomplishes much of what has been asked for in this thread.  If you haven't seen it here's a (his use of the sun flare as a layer begins about 10min 40 sec. in) https://www.on1.com/videos/transforming-a-day-time-photo-into-a-moody-night-scene/
