Catalogued Folder not updating

Ok, so a couple of things need clarifying before we can know where the problem is. The default folder location in preferences...

... specifies what you will see when the camera icon is selected.

It doesn't necessarily mean that the location is cataloged. If it is cataloged, you will see an entry in the Cataloged folders area.

If you don't have your folders and catalogues set up that way, post some screenshots so we know what you're working with. If you do, then I'd want to know if your catalogues are still building.

If they are new, it might take a day or so to scan everything into the database. Once they are built, then when adding new folders it shouldn't take long for the catalog to add them.

Let me know how much of this applies.

    Hi David,

Installing 2020 should not have affected cataloging in any way. I just had to rebuild my catalogs yesterday.

I just added a new folder to my Pictures folder from the Finder and Photo RAW sees it so this is working on my system. I find that it is slow to update the list sometimes but all I do is collapse the hierarchy and re-expand it to force a refresh of the display and it will be there.

If you are still not seeing your folder send a report to tech support with the Submit a request link below. Please read https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018405111-How-to-submit-a-problem-to-ON1-Tech-Support-A-Step-by-step-Guide and include the info it requests. Also I would position a Finder window showing the missing folders along side ON1's display where they are not present and send a screen shot of that as evidence you're not hallucinating. :)

Rick and Bryan, thanks for your prompt responses.

My Pictures folder is the only catalogued folder.

As you can see, it is not in the process of building or updating.

I will follow Bryan's advice and send a report to tech support.

Click the > next to the Pictures folder to expand it and make its contents visible.

Of course, that is how to see the subfolders present in the catalogue. Here is the side-by-side screenshot of Finder on the left, and the ON1 catalogued folder on the right.

In my case, ON1 is missing the 2019-10-12 Air Show, 2019-10-25 Pumpkin Flotilla and 2019-10-26 Nature photography.

Have you scrolled to the bottom of the list? I, along with others, have reported an issue with ON1's sorting when folders have numbers preceding characters in their names. Names with certain number-letter combinations would sort to the end of the list regardless of their actual alphanumeric sort order. If this is happening to you the missing folders could be lower in the list. If that is the case it most definitely needs to be reported as their response to my bug report was that's how it is supposed to work and there is no problem.

One other thing I would check is the permissions on the missing folders. Use Get Info in the Finder to check that they are readable by all.

    Good thoughts. However...

I've scrolled down the list, and the folders are not there. And all folders are readable by all.

One last thought, have you quit the program and relaunched it? This definitely needs to go to support. Include the link to this discussion for them.

Neither quitting/restarting the program, nor restarting the computer, has helped. I have contacted tech support.

I appreciate your efforts to help, and will follow up with the solution when I have it.

Any update on this subject? I'm experiencing the same problem.

Ivo, you should document the problem as accurately as possible and open a support request. if this is still happening, On1 needs to know about it...

also include the info requested here...

My advice also is you should raise a support request, I have a similar issue and the response I received was this:

"If you don't doesn't want to remove/re-add the folders you can try deleting the WatchedContent folder.  Though this will still cause a complete re-catalog to rebuild the database.  You'll also want to make sure those images are showing their dates accurately in the first place.  You  could try the  Photo > Read Metadata from Photo and see if this address this issue."

I did both and it didn't help. My Cataloged folder is also a single folder and I am just waiting on advice from support on how to structure the new catalog.

Have you run Disk Utility's First Aid function to verify there are no directory errors in your drive's folder structure?

In my case there are no drive errors, it simply stopped 3 days into february 2019

Thanks, I've submitted a support request and provided as much information as possible. Hopefully tech support can figure it out.

In the end rebooting my computer solved the problem for me. If that wouldn't work, tech support suggested to reinstall ON1 Photo RAW 2020.

Everything has been working fine since I rebooted.
