ON1 2020 All my edits and layers lost, the ON1 file not appearing
Yesterday 12/1 I created and edited a Pano in 2020 added a sky replacement, effects, tone & color, local adjustments today the file is gone not appearing on browse only the unedited PSD is left. You have got to be kidding me all that work!. The .on1 file is in the directory Can someone shed some light on this.

Charles, On1 creates a .onphoto file with these types of edits. While in Browse look for a .onphoto file with the same name as the original and open it. If you are set to sort by "Name" it should be right next to the original. To change change sort order click on the dropdown box lower left side of the Browse window.

David, I'm not seeing the .onphoto file this is what's in the directory

Charles, did you do the sky replacement using a sky photo in Layers or did you do it using a filter in Effects?

After I merged the pano did my initial edit in develop, effects and local adjustments I used the add layer option browsed the sky.

The .onphoto file that I would normally see is not there

Basically, it looks like I have to start from scratch that psd is worthless

If you added a sky using layers you should have an .onphoto file -- this assumes you returned to browse when you were done editing. You can still re-edit the .psd file. If you add a sky with layers be sure to go to browse before closing the program.
I just tried real quickly and this is what I see in my Browse window when done. As you can see the .onphoto file has the sky replacement.

Looks like you are still in Layers -- the .onphoto file will show up ( is created ) when you return to Browse.

I better get a cup of coffee went back to browse and it rendered the .onphoto file but that still does not explain what happened to my .onphoto file from yesterday's edit. It has disappeared. I did not delete it.

Thanks for the help David I'm at a loss as to what happened to that file. Not aware of something that I did in the software to cause all that to be lost but I lost all of that work. :(

Yeah I can't explain that. I just tried a couple of ways to potentially not create a .onphoto ( closed program without returning to browse and moving to another photo while in edit ) in both cases the .onphoto file was created so not sure what might have happened. My experience with On1 though has been it's always safest to return to browse when done editing a photo. In fact if the edits are complex probably not a bad idea to return to browse once in a while during the edit.

And you are welcome - hope I helped a bit even though I couldn't help finding your original lost edits.
One final thought run a search on your hard drive/drives for files with a .onphoto extension maybe it was accidentally moved or saved in an odd place.

I will

So the .onphoto file I created yesterday does not exist on my computer prior to 12/1 and the one I created today are there. That's about it.

Hi,
Something very similar happened to me just some minutes ago. I am using 2020.1 (14.1.0.8739)
I have been spending some time merging 5 photos in layers, Masking all of them in order to see from each what I wanted.
Everything was OK. I created a stamped image and do not ask me why I clicked on the "Done" button, as it says that saves all your changes.
After this I los everything. I only have the 5 original photos. No .onphoto nor a merged one...
Was this a mistake or it is a bug? Is there any way to recover my work or I must start from zero?
Thanks a lot.

Make sure you check the actual folder on your PC to see if the file is there. A couple of times now I've not been able to find a file only to discover that On1 simply didn't refresh the page and it was there all along.
Either way, it's not your mistake. Pressing Done is supposed to save your work. If you can't find the file, then yes your work is gone and you might want to report this to On1.
If you do contact On1, be sure to include the info requested in this article...

This just happened to me today. Edited the original photo, added a sky layer, did the edits to erase the original sky, created a stamped layer, added a vignette, clicked done. Sure looked like everything was fine, it went through the whole process of "creating" the new file, but no .on1photo showed. I did a search, (this is a cataloged folder), did a search of all my folders, nothing. No .onphoto file anywhere.
I tried cycling Photo Raw in hopes it was there and that would help, but that did not work.
I wrote up a problem report, just thought I would add here that the problem certainly seems to exist.

Wayne, did you get any errors? Which version of PR do you have? There was a problem with the PREVIOUS version that caused errors, the latest update should have fixed it.

Hi Rick,
No, there were no errors, in fact I would say it looked exactly as it does when it works. I am on 2020.1.1.
I have seen this before, just on odd occasions. It is tough when I am trying to get one out the door to a client.
Anyway, Latest version here.

The new features in the latest version make it easier to save your work as you go. If you're working on an extensive project, you might want to click Done every once in a while to save your work. Since that file is buffered, going back to edit is very fast now. Then if something goes wrong, you have a last-save to go back to.
