    I have found Nathan's email from correspondence from years ago. I have sent him an email.

    I recall attending a computer security 'white hat' conference many, many years ago. It was claimed that every hour cracked software is up, leads to around 120 downloads worldwide, of which a third are just having a look (software magpies) and the other two-thirds are likely to be lost customers. That's 90 lost customers every hour. Of the 120, perhaps 5 will upload the file to the Internet and re-share it. Each share, multiples the problem by 5, and by 5, and by 5...

    As I said, the conference was many years ago, before broadband. Now with broadband, I am sure the figures must be much higher.

    A simple search turned up several torrent download sites offering the cracked version. Free virus included.
