I have the exact same issue, Every time I try to Change to the edit mode, ON1 crashes.

Same happens when I click the layer Icon. Any help out there? None of the recommendations worked (updated graphic Driver, adjusten OpenGL Settings, new Installation several times).

Software is entirely unusuable for me.

It sounds to me like something has become corrupt. I recommend a complete uninstall then reinstalling the program. Here are the steps to completely uninstall the software.

    1. Uninstall via the Add/Remove Programs
    2. Remove the C:\Program Files\ON1\ON1 Photo RAW 2020 directory
    3. Remove the directories with "2020" in their names located in C:\ProgramData\ON1
    4. Remove the directories with "2020" in their names located in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\ON1
    5. Remove this directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\ON1 Photo RAW 2020.lrplugin
    6. Remove this directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules\ON1 Resize 2020-suite.lrplugin
    7. Remove the 2020 files in this directory C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\External Editor Presets
    8. Remove the 2020 files in this directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC

Just done that exactly as you describe (items 5-8 did not exist) and downloaded from scrach and reinstalled as Admin.

Maybe worth mentioning I am referring to the main ON1 application, not the Lightroom module. I am now noting that Axel's note was referring to that one specifically.

Exact same issue on the new Installation. Click on edit - 2 seconds later crashes.

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Andreas

You'll have to contact tech support if a clean reinstall didn't help. Be sure to include the information requested this knowledge base article: https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018405111-How-to-submit-a-problem-to-ON1-Tech-Support-A-Step-by-step-Guide

    I forgot to mention:

    • a complete clean uninstall and reinstalling the program didn't help
    • there is no entry in 'Win10 > SystemSettings > Apps&Features' in my local user account to uninstall the program. This entry only appears in the admin account. But of course I use ON1 as a local user (for years).

Of course I contacted the tech support.

    Workaround:

ON1 v14.0.1.8205 doesn't crash, when the application language is set to English (Edit > Preferences).

Default is 'Auto', which means for me 'German' and results in a crash. It crashes reproducible, if set to Auto, German or any other language. Only English works and you can edit the photo.

Hope this helps for some days.

Same thing here. Changing language to english fixes the crashes. Many thanks.

I tried to reinstall the older version, but this can't be done without errors (screenshot).
2020.1 is buggy. Hope for a quick fix in a new version. I want to use german language again.

I'm not able to replicate this on my Mac. Please file a support request to let the company know you all are having problems and the solution you've found to get around it.

    @Bert:

Before trying to reinstall an older version, you should do a complete uninstall, which Brian described in the third message from top.

The issue is windows only. On mac everything runs fine.

I've done a complete uninstall. It's not working.

I got an answer from ON1 support. But it is a standard answer that they use with any error message. They do not care about the detailed information I gave. Very disappointing.

I must say that the automatically testing suite for ON1 Photo Raw must be very bad. Such bugs are easy to recognize and should definitely not happen. And as you can see in this forum, there are quite a lot of other serious bugs.

I am curious when a bug-fixed version will be released.

Release 14.0.1.8289 ? I don't get it. ON1 always shows that my version 14.1.8205 is current.
