New search function strange behavior
I really like the concept of the new search at the top of the program, but the behavior could use a little tweaking. It is confusing because the current settings in advanced search affect the results at it took me a while to figure this out. Even though the program populates the search field it in the advanced search settings, the behavior is not typical for programs and so a bit confusing. For example, if advanced search is set to current photos then the top search command will be limited to that. If it is set to cataloged, then it will search all cataloged folders.
Even more confusing is that in most programs when you enter a search term you hit enter to make it take effect. In Photo Raw 2020.1 it seems you have to add a space after the search work to make it take effect if it is set to current photos, but not when searching cataloged. Very odd.
I would just like a single check box next to the search field at the top to determine whether to search current or catalogued photos regardless of advanced search settings. Something like the check box for show subfolder items. If I want a more advanced search I'll just use the regular advanced search settings. If I have to change the settings in the advanced search pane to make sure I'm getting the results I want at that moment, I don't see the real benefit of having a second search box at the top.

I agree. Even worse is that it always defaults to filter current photos. If I search, it is always catalogued photos, so I have to keep resetting it. It really should be sticky.

I've also noticed that the search results seem to move the scroll bar down a ways and so subsequent searches require scrolling back up every time to see the beginning results.

I'm not finding it necessary to add a space character to the end of my search terms. In fact, if I'm searching for a keyword adding the space finds nothing while not adding it correctly finds all the images with that keyword. No need to press the Return/Enter key as the search is performed live while typing.

Are you testing when the search is set to current images? I don't see the behavior if it is set to catalogued folders.

I've tested it both ways, the search is performed live as you type although it may take a second or two for it to complete before the images get displayed.

Are you on Windows or Mac? I'm on a Windows 10 machine and can reproduce this at will.

I'm on a Mac but I hope to get my older Windows system running again later today.

Just created a screen capture of the behavior. I enter in a keyword, hit enter and wait 10 seconds and still nothing happens. As soon as I enter a space at the end the search executes instantly.

What happens when you search for a keyword which does not contain a space character? Although, when I search for "Gunlock Reservoir" the program finds things with just the search term "gunlock".
You might want to report this to support and see what they have to say about it.

Created a test keyword without a space and that worked so complex keywords seem to be the issue. I haven't done much with keywords since I haven't gotten them working well between my two computers.
