You'll need to do a complete uninstall of the program then reinstall it. The uninstaller does not remove all the program's pieces so you'll have to do some manual clean up before reinstalling. The following instructions should get everything.

    Delete the following folders:
    1. /Applications/ON1 Photo RAW 2020
    2. /Library/Application Support/ON1
    3. /Library/Frameworks/ON_____.framework
    4. ~/Library/Application Support/ON1  — Make sure to export all your presets first so you can import them after reinstalling
    5. ~/Library/Caches/com.ononesoftware.ON1PhotoRAW____       There are several of these
    6. ~/Library/Caches/ON1 Photo RAW 2020
    7. ~/Library/Preferences/com.ononesoftware.ON1______              There are several of these one for each program module

    Hi Brian,

At last it worked ! ! The support told me to do the same, but omitting the framework and caches folders. Deleting these last folders solved the problem...

Thanks a lot for your quick answer and your dedication.

    Kind regards,

    John

    I'm glad that's all it took. :)

I've a firm intention to switch from LR classic to On1, after several attempts in the past (since 2015) when On1 was not mature enough. Now it seems it's time ;-))

I had been fine with Catalina up until 10.15.7 when ON1 RAW suddenly became unable to access any of my photos. I followed Brian's advice above and this has got ON1 (2020) working again. Thank you.

I am convinced that this was a macOS problem because I had other strange things happening too, separately from ON1. I reinstalled Catalina from macOS Recovery before I did the ON1 reinstall and I recommend that to anyone else having issues (it does not remove your user data as long as you only do the OS reinstall) so reconfiguring ON1 is not a big job.

In deleting all the files listed above, I did worry that my database of edits might also be lost (I don't keep sidecar files) but this does not seem to be the case. Where is the edit database?

Catalina added new security features to the OS that control which parts of the file system any given program can work with. Upgrading the OS to Catalina after installing ON1 leaves the program without some of those new permissions. The company has added a new feature to the program should you have permissions problems again. Hold the Shift key while the program is launching and you'll see a dialog giving several options for resetting different settings files the program uses. The first option on the left for Mac OS users is a button to reset permissions for the Mac OS X. Using that is much easier than going the uninstall/reinstall route and it saves your data.

    Thanks for that.

I actually lost access to photos that I had been able to edit under earlier releases of Catalina so I guess that's a related problem.

I can't see the dialogue that you describe when holding Shift whilst launching (ON1 RAW 2020.5 (14.15.1.9231)). Is it new in the 2021 version?

Can you shed any light on where the ON1 database is stored? I assume that it gets backed-up by Time Machine.

    No, this is in 2020.

There are several databases that you'll find at ~/Library/Application Support/ON1 Photo RAW 2020. Yes, Time Machine should pick them up. Your edits and metadata are also stored in the .on1 & .xmp sidecar files if you've left that option on in Preferences.

Got it, thanks. It should obviously show up on the other display amongst my Safari windows - don't you love multi-display working with macOS!
