Blank Thumbnails In Browse
Having a really odd issue at the moment, as you can see below when i browse my raw files some show up others do not. The info panel does not show any EXIF data for those that are not showing others have EXIF data shown.
The thumbnails show correctly in explorer for all files and in EXIF Pilot and Photoshop the EXIF data is present. Can anyone give me a solution?
Only workaround i have been able to do is create a JPG in photoshop and save it into the folder and then deleting the blank raw.

It is also interesting that all the files without a preview have a single star rating or did you do that to flag them yourself?
- What do you see if you switch to Fast Previews?
- Does the image display in full screen view or in edit mode?
- Do you have the latest 2020.1 update?
- Does the Rebuild Preview command do anything? Try it with the Alt key held down too.

I put the star rating on so i could easily find them to create JPGs.
Only just bought the software so not 100% sure how to rebuild or fast previews
No in full screen i get the below, it als seems to lock up the programme all i can do i click on browse to get back

What color space are those files in?
Are the images that do show previews from the same camera as those that do not?
Can you post one somewhere for me to download and take a look at?

The Refresh Preview (sorry, got it wrong above) command can be found under the Photo Menu.

Fast makes no difference, all photos taken on same trip with same camera Panasonic GX8 all are .RW2 files.
Happy to send one over not sure how?

You can upload the .rw2 file to any web sharing service like Dropbox, WeTransfer, Google Share, etc., then post the download link here.

I agree, 381 shows up and 382 doesn't.
I see that 381 is 23mb while 382 is only 2.4 mb. Something is wrong with it.
John, don't delete your RAW files after making JPG, that defeats the purpose of having a non-destructive editor.

but if i cannot see them i cannot use them

Irfanviewer says 382 is a JPG that's labelled as an RW2. It's only 2.4mb while 381 which is a real RW2 is 23mb.

oh okay wonder how that happened

Once I changed 382 from RW2 to JPG, On1 was able to see it properly.

Do you shoot both RAW and JPG with your camera? Maybe there is something in the process that's labelling them all the same.

Ok, I don't know why you'd have files incorrectly labelled as RW2 when they are actually JPG.
You can't change the extension in Photo Raw, you need to do that in Windows. To find it, right-click the photo in On1 and select Show in Explorer, then you can right-click the file in Explorer, select Rename and change just the extension (RW2 to JPG). Then try again to see if it opens in On1.

Sorted now thanks both all renamed and showing. Seems the files with errors were those I edited with the capture one trial.

John, wouldn't that mean you still have RAW versions of all of those JPGs? Unless you're going to re-edit, you wouldn't need them anyway.

I had the black / blank pictures when I migrated raw files from Lightroom on about 20 pictures. What I found worked was to reset picture to default settings and they would show up. Just needed editing and all was well. I guess there was something that went wrong with migration or the Lightroom sidecar file was not compatible. I verified that Lightroom could see the raw file to isolate the problem. Hope this helps you.
