There is so much more that Advanced Search can do beyond just a simple keyword search. You can search for images taken on specific dates or date ranges. You can restrict the search to only files of a particular type. You can combine searches for different parameters; i.e.; all psds created in June 2017 with the keyword beautiful. Whatever combination you need. You can set up searches for images that contain both keywords kw1 and kw2 or, those that contain either kw1 or kw2.

Because it is most commonly used for keyword searching the double-click shortcut for setting up the search parameters was implemented. It is still an advanced search and searches exactly the same as when you set it up manually. If you want to do a multiple keyword search, flowers in Colorado for example, you have to set it up manually as there is no way to double-click more than one entry in the Keyword List.

I've already acknowledged, and reported to the engineers, that the "river thames, tower bridge" being returned for  a search for "stowe" is a bug.

I cannot recommend highly enough to read the User Guide. It explains all this in one searchable document. Page 33. :)

    OK. Thank you very much.
I must learn not to assume so much when I'm looking at things.

There's an old saying, "If all else fails - read the instructions" and I must admit I'm as bad as anyone when it comes to things like that.
Seeing something labelled "Search" seemed like exactly what I wanted, and it would have been fine were it not for the"river thames, tower bridge" thing (which at least you seem to have identified as a "bug.") I would have accepted it finding "Felixstowe" and "Morwenstowe" as being rather clever.

I suppose part of the problem is there are a lot of places in the UK with "stowe" as part of their name!

Thanks again for your patience, I'm sure I have a better understanding of things now!

    Best regards, Brian

I'm guessing that stowe is another word for village or small town? I've looked it up several times but can't find a definition that fits how it's being used in the UK. We have a lot of "weeps" or "weaps" around here. Ute (as in Utah), I think, for the wide kind of valleys we have around here leading to the Grand Canyon.

The odds for anyone stumbling across that particular bug must be pretty high I would think. It was just the coincidence of your photo having those two keywords in succession in their keyword lists which matched a legitimate search string. Who would think of searching for a concatenation from portions of two words. :) That was a good find.

I'm glad I could help Brian.

Brian, have you seen there is a new update? It fixes this problem and others.

    Just installed the update.

Advanced Search for "stowe" in Cataloged Folders still returns "river thames, tower bridge" as a result.

I just checked again and you're right, it is still there. Don't know why it worked last night. Sorry about that.
