Develop mode hangs
Hi!
I'm new to ON1 Photo Raw and love the software but I've already encountered a really strange error. Once the program starts and I go into Edit/Develop everything seems to freeze and eventually I only end up with the attached screen.
It seems as if this screen appears after a 3-part job is done judging from the status bar.
I have removed the program and reinstalled but the same thing happens all the time.
I have also emptied the cache and scratch folder.
Here is the last couple of lines from the log file after a open a file; and yes, I have tried several different ones.
Any ideas regarding a solution to this error?
Kind regards,
// Henrik

Have you created a new catalog recently? If so it will take a lot of CPU until it's done scanning.
While that happens, rendering takes a lot longer. If you get the same image in Browse, you can try Refresh Preview to render it.
If you DO see the image in Browse, then it will work in Develop but you'll have to give the program time to do it. Once catalogs are done, you won't have the problem anymore.

What is the source of your jpgs? Do they have a colorspace assigned to them? The screen you see usually indicates that the file does not have an embedded RGB color profile for the program to work with. If this is the problem all you have to do is assign a colorspace to the images and then ON1 can work with them.

Brian Lawson: I have managed to edit RAW-files. But when I edit JPG-files I always get that screen (that I attached). I just tried to edit a jpg-file that uses sRGB IEC61966-2.1 and even though the color space is defined I still can't edit.
What else could I try?
In develop the progress bar is gray and on mouse-over it says "0 of 3 Done" and then it just disappears.

Can you post one of your problem jpeg files for me to take a look at? Zip it and upload the zip file to a sharing site like Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc. then post the download link here for me.
It looks like you've added a second problem. I'm not sure what you did to get to the point you show in your last post. If you are unable to make any edits there shouldn't be any progress to be made.

When I edit a RAW-file the progress bar quickly shows some sort of progression so the "0 of 3 Done"-scenario that I described above only happens when I try to edit JPG-files.
Here is a link to one jpeg-file. Still haven't found a single one that I can edit but I have somewhere around 30'000 files to chose from;

Really appreciate your response!

I'm not having any trouble seeing or editing the file you provided. However, uploading the jpeg to Dropbox may have altered it which is why I asked that it be zipped first. It is unlikely but possible. However, since it was taken with an iPhone I doubt the problem does lie with the image file itself. Also given the number of files you're having trouble with that seems unlikely as well. That leaves your system and the software.
Where do you have the images stored? Are they on the boot drive, a 2nd internal drive, external drive, or a NAS? What happens if you move one to a different drive? I would try copying one to your boot drive and see how that works.

Hi again
I didnt understand that you wanted them zipped for that reason - sorry!
I tried to copy a bunch of photos to my MacBook Pro but the same thing happened again.

I'm going to recommend that you completely uninstall then re-install the software. If that does not solve the problem I'll have to refer you to tech support. I'm out of ideas for why this is happening, sorry.
Here is a procedure I wrote to remove all off the program and everything it installs as the uninstaller leaves pieces of the program scattered about your system.
Delete the following folders:- /Applications/ON1 Photo RAW 2020
- /Library/Application Support/ON1
- /Library/Frameworks/ON_____.framework
- ~/Library/Application Support/ON1 — Make sure to export all your presets first so you can import them after reinstalling
- ~/Library/Caches/com.ononesoftware.ON1PhotoRAW____ There are several of these
- ~/Library/Caches/ON1 Photo RAW 2020
- ~/Library/Preferences/com.ononesoftware.ON1______ There are several of these one for each program module
Let me know what happens.

Hi again!
I tried a few different things but hopefully I've found the solution;
I did a full uninstall by removing all files and folders you listed above and even all sidecar-files. I could see that the ON1 uninstallation don't remove all files so I removed everything manually.
Then I did a fresh installation and right now everything is working!!
I kind of wish that I knew what went wrong from the beginning in order to prevent it from happening again.
A huge thank you for your great input and help Brian Lawson!

The sidecars would not have been the cause of the problems. They hold the edits you've made to your images along with the internal database which was deleted. Because you are a new user this isn't so much of a problem but if you should follow the procedure at some point in the future you will not want to delete the sidecars. Leaving them in place allows the new installation to be able to recover your previous edits, keywords, and other metadata changes you've made.
