Edited Images Keep Disappearing
I'm done with ON1. I just spent almost an hour editing an image in the new release. I clicked Done and went looking for it in Browse. GONE!! Not to be found anywhere. This is the 3rd-4th instance of this happening (including with the previous version). It's all been reported to Support and I'm told there's nothing they can do. They even asked me to send them the edited images that I had worked on but had disappeared. What part of disappeared don't they understand. I loved ON1 but I'm not about to be their Beta Tester. They shouldn't be releasing new products before they're fully tested. I even upgraded my video card thinking that would help. Nope.

Hi all.
I think i have a similar problem of edits not showing up.
If I edit a photo (MAC), located on an external SSD, and then I save it, everything is fine.
If I edit multiple photos (located the same external SSD) in HDR, or a photo with multiple layers, edits are NOT saved.
If the same photos are located on the internal HD or on another external SSD, all the edits are saved.
evidently, there is something wrong with this particular SSD, but why ONLY some edits of multiple photos or edits of a multilayered photo are not shown? Permissions are all free, of course

Gianni, are you aware that both layers and HDR create new files in your folder? Your edits would be in those files.

THOSE files do not appear at all :-)
They appear regularly if I do my edits on the internal HD

I have my images stored on an external SSD and I'm not able to replicate this problem. Gianni, have you tried resetting the program's settings for macOS? Hold the Shift key down while the program starts up and you'll be presented with a dialog to reset settings. Click the button for macOS 10.15 Upgrade.

I thought I'd give ON1 another shot on my 'disappearing' images. It happened again. I opened an image, cropped it, did some Tone/Colour and a touch of Dynamic Contrast. I then added a layer with my watermark, clicked Done. Got the usual Saving messages and when I looked in Browse the edited Image was not there. The original was there - untouched. So far, neither Support nor the Forums have been able to help me. Looks like I'll be in the market for an ON1 replacement.

The original is supposed to be untouched.
As soon as you add a layer, On1 switches to an onphoto file.
If you can't find it in Browse, also check your PC's file explorer. I've found that sometimes the file is actually there, but the Browser hasn't detected it yet.
By the way, in your screen shot from last week, there are no filenames showing so it's hard to tell what you're looking at, you should enable that.

I tried to answer your previous message but got an error message my reply was denied.

I'm trying again. I looked at the folder using Windows Explorer. There are 3 files - the original (.ARW), a ,on1 file and a ,xmp file. There is no Edited or onphoto file.

I think you said your photos were on an external drive. What happens if you copy your working files to an internal drive and edit from there?

That's too much hassle Rick. I have 130,000 plus images. If I want to work on something you're suggesting I find it, move it to an internal drive and then when finished move it back to the external drive. No thanks. I spend enough time on my PC as it is. I've never had this hassle with PS/LR or ON1 until a few months ago. It has to be something in ON1.

Actually, I'm suggesting that you try to isolate where the problem is. No one is going to know what to fix if it's not isolated.
For all we know, On1 is working perfectly and it's just your drive causing the trouble.

I just redid the same image using the same steps as before, without moving it to an internal drive, and it worked.

The question is, will it fail on an internal drive or does it always work from there.

It sounds like I'm the only person using an external hard drive and having this problem. I find that hard to believe. Or, I'm the only one who has reported the problem.

Rick and Brian, I think I found the problem.
Rick, I believe, thought possibly that the drives were going to sleep and showed me where to check. My system didn't look anything like what he showed but I eventually found it. I couldn't tell which of the USB hubs were the external drives (I use 6 for backups (6 external & internal drives).) but, I found 2 hubs that were enabled. Everything else was disabled. So, I disabled those 2. I then went into ON1 and started working on images. I worked on them all yesterday afternoon and this morning. No problems yet. So, it appears that may have been the problem. I just hope I haven't spoken too soon.
I really appreciate all the effort you both put into helping me. I also want to apologise if I came off gruff. But, I've been so frustrated with ON1. This problem is only 1 of many I've been having with little or no help from ON1 Support.
Again, my thanks.
Harry

Good to know. I've copied a few test photos to an external drive with the hope of replicating the problem, but so far, I can't. It always works for me whether I have the power settings enabled or not.
After some time, if you're sure the problem is resolved, you should update tech support with your findings.

Do all of your hubs have their own power supplies or are they powered by the USB bus? If you have a mix, which are your photos drives plugged into?

Nitin, we are not tech support. Brian and I are moderators and like to help, but it's not like it's our job to figure these things out. I don't think connecting to people's computers would be appropriate.

My ongoing issues of losing my edits in ON1 are still happening.
In the previous threads, I mentioned I was using external hard drives for my images. Since then, to try and alleviate the my problems, I bought a 8TB internal hard drive (not SSD), My images and nothing else are on this drive.
No change. Like before, every once in awhile I lose my Edits. Not all the time. As I've said this an intermittent problem. Which, I think makes it almost impossible to figure out. Unless something is very obvious.
Not only did I buy the 8TB drive, I also upgraded my video card. My previous video card was a NVidia GeForce T640. I upgraded it to a GeForce GTX1650. My "C" Drive is 1TB with almost 409GB free. My 8TB drive has still has 5TB free on it. I'm running 32GB RAM. I don't think my issues are a system problem.
I'm not prepared to spend anymore money to assist ON1 in running.
This problem happened yesterday on the image that I posted in the Users Group. I opened the image and went into Edit, changed Tone/Colour (brightened the whites), went into Effects, added a touch of Dynamic Contrast, added a layer (watermark) then added a Stamped Layer, it, of course, picked up the name of the Layer under it, I then renamed it it Stamped and clicked done. In Browse the Edited image was not there. Just the untouched original.
I then opened it again, repeated my adjustments, added my watermark and instead of adding a Stamped Layer I just merged the visible layers. Therefore, losing the ability to do any further adjustments to the layers. Went back into Brows and the edited image, with merged layers, was there
As I said earlier, Support just keep telling me they can't help me and are always asking for me to submit the 'disappeared' image. Which is a really dumb request as the image is gone.
I'm just hoping that the new version later this month will solve this problem. I know others have been experiencing this problem as I've seen a comment in one of these threads as well as on the FB page.
