Colorchecker-icc file does not show up
AnsweredHi, I just purchase the Colorchecker Passport Photo 2, I have gone through all of the steps to create a new profile and when I get to Import in the develop module, my file is not listed. I have made sure that in the calibrn software i did choose the ICC-TIFF tab. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, or if I am doing anything wrong. I also did a search for .icc file, --nada. Also, in the calibration software at the top of its screen while it is crunching away, i do see created file name listed with an extension .icc but nowhere does it show up. I have looked in the colorsynch-profile folder, and also dedicated a folder for the icc file to reside, no luck? Hailpp. :0) One other thing, the white balance works while in On1 and synching in the film strip to my other images,,,just don't see the new choice when clicking on import.? I have the latest ver: v2.1.0 -thanks

There is a user guide for that...
ON1 Workflow for Creating a Custom ICC Camera Profile
It's 1/2 way down this page.

About the white balance, I don't understand the question. You'll have to be more specific.

When you click the Create Profile button in the ColorChecker Camera Calibration program you are presented with a Save dialog. That gives you the opportunity to tell the program where you want to save the profile you are creating. If you go through the process again be sure to check the location by clicking on the folder name at the top of the screen.
I don't remember if this is the program's default location for saving them but it is the operating system's default so I'd check there first. ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles.

Hi Rick/Brian, Thanks for the quick response. I checked all this (what you suggest above) before I submitted. It's a no go for me. I went to the system profiles folder and ColorSync, (paths listed below) just system stuff in there. I had also looked at the x-rite site about locating the icc profiles. My profile is not there in the path: mac hd/library/colorsync/profiles or the user path that x-rite suggests. It is like the profile is not writing to the specified location i.e. Profile Folder per your sample above-screen shot. I did a search for .icc, and nothing shows up other than some Apple files, a X-rite_LinearProfile.icc file, & iMac.icc files (10 files total) with different dates, but not mine. I even closed down ON1 and restarted just to see if the simplest thing could have been the issue. I have watched the video D. Kotecki did on this as well & some other videos. I even had the calibration software save the icc file to my desk top...nothing shows on the desktop except the .tif file I exported from ON1 to the desktop to drag over to the calibrator. ?? and camera was not on auto wb, in case that might be a thought. thanks again.

Create a new profile and after you click the Create Profile button take a screen shot of the Save dialog like I've shown above. If you press Command-Control-Shift-4 then put the mouse pointer over the Save dialog and press the Space bar it should take a shot of that dialog like I've shown. You can then Paste it into your comment here.

Ok, that appears to be going into one of the default ColorSync Profiles folders. If you click on the Profiles pull-down menu it will show you the full path to that folder.
If that is the same location you've always been trying to save to you may not have permissions to save there. I would expect to see an error message of some sort in that case but who knows.
What happens if you save the profile somewhere else? For a test you can try your Desktop or in the same folder with the .tiff tile you used to create it. Save it some place inside your Home Directory to be sure you have permissions to write to that location. What happens then? Does it get saved?

Hi Brian, What I sent you (screen shot) is it- There is no pull down on my mac and I haven't received any error messages.
also, earlier I did save the file location to my desktop which the file did not show up.
I also had tried to save it to a folder that I made called colorcheck canon 5d mark IV, it was not saving there either.
I did notice in the video that Dylan made, that after the calibrater was finished a message came up saying that it was saved or something to that effect. When I created the profile, it did not come up with that message as it did in the video. This is my personal computer so I have all permissions, never had a problem like this before. this couldn't be a random bug? All the instructions seemed to be fairly straight forward. at least i have a go around, keep the ColorChecker file in the grid, and do the white balancing in ON1-film strip mode and sync the images... :0!

Try this. Go to the ColorChecker Camera Calibration program's Preferences and turn on the option Enable previous profile calculation.

Brian, I have a suggestion, it may be a pain, but when making videos or writing instructions such as this Colorchecker usage, it might be good to document/video each step, from camera settings on thru the little 'side roads' like going to Preferences to ensure a minimum amount of issues, uh like for people like me :0) For me, I usually load software, following the instructions and have had no problems. I think the video that Dylan K., did should be edited and fill in with the missing parts. I think he could be more informative especially for the 'hidden" step "Preferences." Just a suggestion is all. Thanks again for all the help!!! Very appreciative!

Unfortunately I do not work for the company. The "hidden" preferences step did not exist when the video was made. It was added to the latest version of the ColorChecker Calibration program because of changes they made. I had the same problem and had to get help from X-rite to learn about it. I'm sorry I forgot earlier and ran you through all the other steps.

You don't have to apologize...Stuff happens. I don't mind repeating steps just in case I did something incorrectly, missed a step, had a type-o or something. I appreciate others who are more savvy than I when stuck at something that seemed to be a simple process. :0) In anyway if someone else gets stuck, the info is here as a help. Thx!
