Here's our article on free upgrade eligibility for ON1 Photo RAW 2021: https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050139671

That is something you'll have to ask the company. Portrait AI isn't bundled with the program, it is built into the program just like the other modules that you can purchase separately — Resize, Effect, etc.

Thanks Brian, I saw a "ON1" response to a query here and therefore put the query here :)

They do monitor these forums but rarely respond here directly.

Thanks, Richard, I was just wondering if there would be any bug-fixed update for 2020.x.x before the 2021 release.

Nitin: I am being offered the upgrade for the equivalent of about 80USD. I very much doubt whether I'll bother. Whether 2020 gets any further upgrades remains to be seen. Did the 2019 version get any after the release of 2020?

It's a pity that On1 doesn't have the level of customer support Topaz Labs has, say. It also probably explains why the Topaz forums are 20 times more active than these are. There is even a forum for beta testers. I pointed out an issue with one of the Topaz products and was immediately asked to become a beta tester. I am surprised, Nitin, that with all the issues you have been having with On1 2020, that On1 haven't asked YOU to beta test for them!

Yes I should have tipped my hat to Brian and Rick too.

Totally agree about the mods here...Brian and Rick.

Ray, believe it or not, the moment I discovered the variety of bugs in 2020.1, I had written to support and offered to beta test, but, no response on that.

Agree with you Richard, I had mentioned someplace earlier that I just need to put in a short blog post or a video of an issue/bug for all the other apps I use and the companies pick up from there. I generally put up these small notes for friends so they can work-around these issues. Never had to formally report anything. I have Affinity as well...Nice and mostly replaces PS for me.

Imagine the fact that ON1 cannot even properly count the total number of images in a catalog (reported and known issue). These are very basic issues and one has to wonder, like in the crop case, what kind of QA is done in ON1. In one of the raw rendering issues, I would not want to share the totally clueless response I got from support :)

Interestingly, after I posted the issues on the ON1 blog, I got a message from support (in their bug list, no email) that they would like to investigate the crashes and if I could use a different config (extended logging) and send that information across. Have sent them 5 crash reports and a couple of new crashes which I had not come across earlier. Interestingly, I discovered some more crash conditions in the process, but, I believe they are related, so...Let's hope they can find and fix the crashers.

Anyway, let's wait and watch the live stream :)

I won't be watching the live stream as I have other things to do. I assume it will end up on the On1 YouTube channel and hope people with issues will get an opportunity to ask questions!

I also saw the potential in ON1 2020 to replace the LR+PS pack for my purposes since I also purchased Affinity right after ON1. Ah well...Does not live up to the level so far.

Did see some nuances in the live stream for 2021 today. Personally, I would be a lot happier with a bug fixed update rather than new bugs...I mean features :)

Very interesting marketing policy:  We can buy PR 2021 on 16 August 2021 in order to have bugs fixed for whole 2022...

Thanks Kahlie, but, I don't see any option on the site in my account to change the date of purchase... 🤔😜

Andrea, my purchase was end of April. 6 months for a recharge. Still reporting crashers and bugs...

    Nitin,

It's too late for me as I've just purchased the 2021 On1, but would you recommend Infinity over On1 for a non-professional photographer?

Cynthia Thomas, I think you mean Affinity. Affinity is just a good photo editor including raw files similar to Photoshop, but, if you need to manage and organize your images, you would require a DAM (Digital Asset Manager). Lightroom, ON1, Exposure, C1 are all DAMs + Raw Processors.

Even Photoshop is used as a plugin to LR for photographers. You can use Affinity as a plugin as well.

Even with ON1, Affinity photo purchase would be a good decision. I also purchased Affinity and it works quite well for editing.

Cynthia, are you already an On1 2020 user? If not I would strongly suggest you download it and try it for yourself. They have a 30 day free trial. You don't have to activate it and by the time your 30 day trial is up 2021 should be out. I promise you a lot of users have good experiences with On1. It's not perfect but pretty darn good for many users. I have used Lightroom and other programs and am most satisfied with On1. I have also seen that, for those folks not happy with On1, On1 is very generous with their refund policy.

Thank you so much everyone. I am an on1 owner. I just bought 2021 upgrade. It has a learning curve but I am heartened by your comments as I, too, had used it as a companion to Apple Photos.
