Help for sharpening needed
Hello,
Despite my efforts, On1 2020 detail rendering from raw files seems inferior compared to LR or PhotoLab4 for example.
With default settings its immediately clear. However, I know well that's the choice of each raw converting app.
I know the tips indicated here : https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360032185411-Sharpening-help-needed?input_string=Help%20for%20sharpening%20needed
But when trying to use On1 various sharpening options (which I find a bit rudimentary), including Sharpening in Effects, I'm not able to get satisfactory results, because then oversharpening comes quickly. This "soft" aspect remain always.
My impression is that perhaps On1 is applying a too zealous noise reduction by default. Alas, contrary to LR for example, there is no way to act on noise reduction.
What do you think ? Is there an approach allowing to get better results ?
Thanks in advance
John

I'm certainly not an expert on sharpening and there is lots of discussion on how best to do it on this forum and the Facebook forums. On1 has so many ways to do sharpening, I'm sure one of them should give you results that you like. In Effects, you can always reduce the opacity of the filter if you think sharpening is too much.
Develop : Details
Effects : Sharpening filter High pass/Progressive/Unsharp Mask
Effects : Dynamic Contrast
Export : 10 different settings
Resize : High pass/Progressive/Unsharp Mask

The amazing detail finder option in effects-sharpening does a good job.
