You can make your own. Apply your crop to a photo and select Save Preset

Give it the Name A4 and click only the Crop button.

Then it will appear in your preset list.

Thanks Rick. I've set it up in presets and it works well.

Still a pain to have to open the presets pane, select the preset and then go back to the crop function to move the image around before applying the A4 crop. Would be so much easier if it was an option in the crop range as I often apply 5x7, 16x9 or A4 to the same image depending on what I want to print at the time.

Of course it would be easier, but at least there is a work around.

If you want to post that idea for consideration, you can do it here...

The program comes with an A4 preset but it is only available in the Resize module's Crop tool. However, you can get it to show up in the normal Crop Tool's menu if you're willing to play with the program's pieces a bit.

The presets are stored in an xxx.ONCropTool file where xxx is the name that shows up in the menu. The built in presets are stored at

    • Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/ON1/Common 202x/CropTool/Factory/Presets               Mac
    • C:\ProgramData\ON1\Common 202x\CropTool\Factory\Presets                                                        Windows

You'll find the ISO A4.ONCropTool file inside the Paper sub-folder. Copy that file to the Ratio sub-folder and it will show up in the normal Crop Tool's presets menu when the program is relaunched.

This means you can use Resize to create any custom crop size you like then move the newly created .ONCropTool file from your user's Application Support/... folder to the system level folder named above for use in editing.

    Interesting hack.

Just a note on the above Windows Path. I have a 'Crop Tool' folder between Common and Factory.

Yes, it is there on the Mac side too. Not sure how I missed that. Thanks, Rick. I fixed it above.

And I am another one that found it useful... thank you!

Thank you very much for this useful explanation! This allows me to define custom crop ratios for scanned old slides (partly more than 100 years old).

Is my assumption correct that in the preset files in the line below <key>dimensionUnits</key> a value
    "100" means "ratio",
    "200" means "inch", and
    "300" means "cm"?

    Thanks in advance, Uwe

Comparing an 8.5 x 11 crop vs A4 crop I'd have to say that yes, 200 means inch and 300 means cm. I haven't looked through enough to see a 100 entry for dimensionUnits so I don't know about that one.

I found the 100 entry in the presets of the Ratio sub-folder, e.g. 2x3 (4x6).
In the meantime I experienced a bit with it and created new presets with special crop ratios. After copying them into the Ratio subfolder I can select them now directly in the Preset pop-up of the Crop Tool Option Bar and they work identical to the other constrained preset ratios. So the shortcoming is solved successfully

Photo RAW 2022 has now has the ability to create and save custom sizes in the Export dialog. Yay!

    Huge thanks Brian!

I copied all the photographic ratios to the Ratios folder.   Now when I open Crop tool I can access all the ratios from 1x1 to 40x60!    The contents of all those various paper and photo sizes should be common to Crop and to Resize.

Looks like another good tip about the new Export dialog box.

There's a discussion on this on the Plus Forums and I forgot all about being able to do this with the Export dialog. Thanks for the reminder.

Anyone have idea how to create Grids.....and display them when Crop is not on?

With pngs that you load as a separate Layer. You don't have to keep the grid layer so no .onphoto file all be created. You might also be able to load it as a Texture.

That is a good sneaky workaround.  Might be work looking for grid image files.   ;)

I haven't seen anything that would indicate the one grid we have is stored in a file. I think they are done procedurally but I haven't specifically looked for any.
