Can you post a screenshot of your settings?

I'll see if I can come up with an example.

    Ummm.....   No

I did this before and it LOOKED like it worked, but I think that was because I was replacing with a similar color.

This time I'm replacing the yellow with the blue from the other flower and it's not even close. I'm going to send this in to support.

if anyone is wondering, yes I did try all of the adjustments and the correct color never comes up.

Thanks, for me the new color is quite correct, but it's applied on many parts of the image (wall, road, trees..) which are not similar to the picked one (ie, grey on the car).

    (I'm sorry, I don't speak/write correct english)

Use the range slider to zero in on the color to be replaced.

If the color spills to other areas, mask them out just as you have always done.

    Rick,

I don't know if this will help, or is even available on Windows, but on the Mac, the some of the Color Picker views allow you to select the color profile used. There was some discussion a couple of months ago about the values shown in the Color Picker not matching the colors shown in the HSB sliders for whichever effect allows you to use the Color Picker.

I've set mine to use my monitor's profile and I'm getting accurate color replacement.

Subias, have you used the Range slider to restrict the color range that gets selected? For things like tires, you can always mask out any areas that are similar in the target color but which you do not want changed.

This Youtube video from Scott Davenport might also be informational for some.

So I tryed different levels cursors range, results bad. Here a photo, I test to replace the black colored tent by green, it turns the sky green too, and the tent is not so green (I wish very green as a marker pen fluo for my test). My image is dramaticly compressed for post here, original is 5,8MB.

    See you tomorrow !

    Hi Subias.

IMHO replacing grey shades is very dificult.

White is a kind of grey, and black is a kind of grey too.

Grey colors contains all colors - red, green and blue in similar proportions.

When You pick grey (black, white) color at the same time You select all colors.

Try to replace yellow shirt on Your photo.

I hope You understand me, my english is very poor too.

Brian, in my screenshot the color selected is correct, it's just not being applied correctly.

Both eyedroppers have that color profile option on my Mac. It is probably built into the OS Color Picker and I don't know if Windows has anything equivalent. I do know that I can watch the sliders change position as I select different profiles.

Have you tried using a Color or Hue blending mode?

Yes, I've tried everything I can think of, but we shouldn't need to use blending modes for this.

Windows has eyedropper equivalent in the color picker as well.

This is the example that I sent to support.

Subias, you posted your photo, but not a screenshot of On1. I'd like to see what your color replace settings are.

I knew there was a color picker with an eye dropper. I don't know if you can assign a color profile like we can in Mac OS.

IMHO there are two situations :

    1. Color sample is bad sampled

    2. Replace color is different to desired color.

I am sure 1. depends on camera

...and maybe depends on file type (raw/jpeg/tiff)

In my case I was trying to replace red color on arw files taken by Sony RX100M7 and Sony A7M3.

When it was arw file from RX100M7 - values below histogram says "it is red", but sampled-target color from "Replace Color" filter says it is "cofee with milk" color.

WHen it was arw file fromA7M3 - it was red below histogram and red sampled Target color in "Replace Color" filter..

    My system is Windows based

Thanks to you all, Dariusz seems right for me, explaining black-grey are more difficult to change, and David for the Scott video very useful. So I tested another photo, replace is quite good, playing with cursors and using masking brush for delete the color where it has not to be (tires, grass etc). As usual promo videos always show easy replacing, it's not so easy, user needs some more work to reach a nice color replacement. But it works.

    Have a good day !

    Windows users - little workaround.

In some RAW photos, in some colors You may encounter "Target Color" picker works inproperly (You see red color, but picks black).

    Do not use this picker.

    1. Change opacity slider to 0 <- it is very important

    2. Click on blue rectangle, appears "Select color" little window.

    3. Click "Pick Screen Color" button and ... pick desired color.

    4.Close this window.

And now You can do opactity slider to 100% and use "Color change" and do some other regulations.

I'm on Mac, but it's quite the same, I did it your way, it's not better. Change color affect much more than the area I want to change, I think it is necessary to play with cursors levels and more important using mask for delete the unwanted recolored parts of the photo. Anyway I play with this feature, just for fun, I don't need it for 99% of my pictures !

What color You choose as a Target Color ?

If  one color is dominant but other two has similar values it works like ... grey (less grey, more grey, but grey).

If You choose color which is only red or green or blue, other colors will be not infected when You replace this choosen color.

But if Your Target Color consist of other colors, those other will be infected, more or less, it depends  on what values has those other colors.(IMHO)

Simply - each tool has own limitations because of ...physics.

    Cheers.

Yes, I understand that; meanwhile I found the replace color feature stands also in Photoscape X for Mac, the results are similar, retouch is necessary for best retouch.
