ON1 2021 TRIAL
Seven days into the trial and only one crash. Which is really saying something over its predecessor’s prodigious propensity for sudden and catastrophic failure. I'm almost overcome with joy.
It’s really snappy and fast, except when it isn’t. Because every now and then it halts for several minutes and then continues without explanation. It’s pretty weird.
LIKES:
Speed (mostly)
Reduced crashes
Improved masking
Cataloguing seems better
DISLIKES:
Lack of major new features
Sudden inexplicable and lengthy pauses
Clone brush
Perfect Brush which leaves a thin line, really noticeable if trying to remove a dark background around a light subject, and vice versa
Can be laggy when using Effects
WILL I BUY IT?
Maybe, it depends.
Part of me feels aggrieved that 2020 was not improved, 2021 shows it could have been done. I’m also disappointed in the paucity of new features, particularly that there are no selection tools yet. 2021 seems like a re-work of 2020, or how 2020 should have been working properly, with just a couple of minor additions, enough to call it a new release.
I will have to see if I have any money left at the end of the month. Or next month. Or the month after. Christmas has a high priority.

Thanks for a very informative post. It would be interesting to hear from others who used 2021 for some time now if it is really worth the upgrade from 2020.6? I had a lot of faith in ON1 since ver 2019 and jumped on the mobile 360 purchasing a yearly subscription. What a disappointment that was (and still is)! I did upgrade to 2020, but it was so buggy that I practically stopped using it. I am a long-time beta tester for Adobe LightRoom (all four of them), and I never saw so many glitches, even in early beta versions there. Still, ON1 has some appeal, and I like the workflow (when it works). The question is - how much is 2021 really improved compared to 2020.6?

2020.6 does not fix all reported issues. Some of those are fixed in 2021. So, my assumption would be that 2020 is dead and 2021 is the only way forward. The pauses are introduced in 2021, but, it does help reduce the outright crashes.
Given both have their issues like rendering/tonal adjustments etc, you can make a call on the feature set.

Is there available a list of improvements or bugs resolved in 2020.6?

No, there isn't.

Each and every release of On PR raw has a "Release Notes & Download" page which can be found here
https://on1help.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
For the 2020.6 page this is what is listed.
Unfortunately they only list two fixes in the first two bullets. Last bullet is just "Bug Fixes"
