Update 2021 mid november
For those who haven't see, an update of V2021 is available, I found it today, released few hours ago or yesterday. Rebuilding catalog will take some hours too !
-
Yes, we have that. Thanks.
My catalog has been rebuilding for 14 hours now and it's only at 54%.

Either my catalog did not rebuild or it happened so quickly I didn't even know it was being done. Makes me wonder what the difference is.

Quickly should be so nice ! Mine is 25% re-building since 2 hours, 8000 photos more or less.
Today I tried the all new ACDSee 7 for Mac, it's really bad vs ON1 or others photo softs...

Note that there is also a new user Guide to match this update. (Version 1.03)

This is what my CPU has looked like since I updated yesterday.

Ok, yesterday when I checked it reported 100%. Now it is reporting 55% so I guess mine are being rebuilt after all. That would explain why brushing was a little slow yesterday.

I had no idea that catalogues would need rebuilding! Had I known I would have left On1 2021 running overnight since installing it several days ago.
So far, I am only seeing the catalogue of images that are on my internal SSD. I have an external SSD dedicated to photos and that is not showing at all.

Have you created a Catalog for the external SSD and it isn't being shown in the list? If you recreate one of the missing catalogs the others should show up as well.

The catalogue for the external SSD was created in On1 2020, but hasn't carried over. The one for Pictures on the internal SSD has carried over, but I didn't realise it had to start over.
I guess I need to add the external again manually.
Nothing was indicated by On1 during the upgrade process that the catalogues would need to be rebuilt. It should have been in my view.

I've seen the Catalogs list not show all my catalogs from time to time. I just recreate one of them and all the missing catalogs show up and all are at 100% complete so I think it is just a matter of the list not being drawn properly and needing to be updated. I usually see this after running an older version of the program then returning to the latest version.
No, there was nothing in the Release Notes about Catalogs needing to be rebuilt. Unfortunately, you got caught between what I described above and this update needing to rebuild everything. Since they all will be rebuilt anyhow it's kind of a wash for you.
It would be nice if the Notes gave us a warning this would happen.

I have also been hit with the same issue . It would have been nice, if the old catalogues could have been 'copied forward' to the new version of Photo Raw? The CPU was working way too hard. To resolve this I deleted one of the catalogues, approx 3TB of images.
I don't use 360, and despite the fact that the catalogue is gone, Browse still allows me to view the images. So it is not much of an issue for me.
Could it be not using 360 that has caused the recataloguing?

I use 360 and my catalogs are being rebuilt.
I wonder if some bug fix requires them to be rebuilt. If so, that's a good thing, right?

I have never understood how the percentage progress figures are calculated. I have just added my external drive back in to the cataloguing process. Hovering over the folder when I did so indicated that cataloguing was 100% done. Now, several minutes later, it's down to 29%. What n earth is going on here?

I've had the same experience as Ray Miles, in the 2020 version. It seems that it takes a while for the cataloging process to actually start, and at the beginning it indicates that it's 100% done even though it hasn't actually started. Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but my experience is identical to his.
FWIW, I just installed the new 2021 update 10 mins ago, and I don't notice any cataloging happening so far. There was a brief notice that the database was being upgraded. I tried a search in my cataloged folder of about 38,000 images, and it worked, though it seemed to be a bit slower than normal.

OOPS! I spoke too soon - now my cataloged folder indicates that it's 19% complete with cataloging - so I guess it was cataloging in the background after all. I suspect that is what has happened to others as well - they just don't realize the cataloging is taking place in the background.
I have a decent machine with 16 gigs ram, 1 tb SSD, and I host the catalog on a USB connected SSD - so it catalogs my 38,000 images in about 1 hour, no big deal. In the time it took me to write this post I have gone from 19% to 21% complete.

I posted a separate topic on these update releases under ON1 Updates.... I would appreciate fellow user input on my questions. Thanks.
