    Well - it has happened again - 5 days worth of edits lost.  Whilst working on the iMac I added a couple of small jpg layers to a versioned Raw file making 2 layers in the stack. Prior to any manipulation of any of the 3 layers, I left the Mac to make a coffee and phone call.  10-15 mins later on returning to continue the project I noticed the film strip had disappeared along with all my edits made this year the files of which sat in my 2021 master folder.  This folder was catalogued on both the iMac and MBP.  The MBP was in sleep mode and on1 app was not open.  Both machines look at the Nas shared folder for all images.  I looked at some .xmp files and all edit data is not there. If you look at my Flickr link this will show the level of editing that has been lost.  There's dozens more examples outside of this link.  What is a photographer suppose to do?https://www.flickr.com/photos/artfull-images/albums/72157717703981713/with/50799877928/     Tony.

    I'm wondering if there is some kind of syncing problem between the two systems. You work on one system then the other one overwrites everything you've done.

    Don't you make backups of your NAS? There's no reason why you should loose all the work like that with a good backup system to restore from when problems do occur.

    I don't see how it is possible for the Filmstrip to just close all by itself while the program continues running and no one is at the keyboard. Programs just don't work like that.

    I don't think it is a syncing problem.  At the time the problem occurred the MBP was powered down.

    My NAS is configured in a mirror so I'm covered from a disc failure.  Yes I do backup the NAS but this has been configured to mirror the NAS on a weekly basis.  I think the way forward is to group say the last 3 years of Raws, Tiffs and PSDs into one master folder - as this is where my main editing sessions and versions occur.  Then backup this master folder on a daily basis. I use USB Copy on Synology with which there are 3 options:   Multi-Versioned,  Mirror and Incremental.

    Although Multi-Version would potentially be ideal it would eat up storage capacity very quickly, therefore I think Incremental is favourite but would appreciate you input!

    Re the Filmstrip - the Filmstrip area was still on screen but without content.  I waited for some considerable time just to make sure there wasn't an On1 task being processed which I wasn't aware of but nothing.  

    Finally, I see little point in having Catalogued Folders due to the fact of potential loss downstream.  As far as I can see the only advantages of cataloging. is speed improvement and key wording.

    Am I missing something?  Thanks for your help........
