Unable to change color label to none
Hello !
I know those days are not mostly dedicated to ON1, anywayhave a nice new year if that's possible.
So, I had some photos I applied in the past some color labels; now those labels are no more useful for my purpose and I want to delete them, bur even by click on the icon label > None, or via the menu bar "photo" > idem label color none, they remain colored. I tested delete photo marker too, no result. I'm on Mac, Catalina, ON1 2021.
Thanks

Are you able to change it to another color? Does the cursor move properly when selecting colors?

I didn't expect so fast answer !
Yes, I can change the color, cursor moves right. I'm in browse mode of course (would be a big work to edit each labeled photo just for delete the color label ! I didn't try and don't want to re-edit hundred of photos one by one). Those photos are on cataloged folders; jpg and raw or edited or not edited, same issue.

You have Auto Advance turned on so any metadata changes automatically moves you to the next image.
Since you have your entire photo collection Cataloged I would go to the Pictures folder (or where ever you're parent photos folder is) and turn on the option Show Sub-folder Contents. That will put all your photos into the Browser window all at once. Select All, then choose the None for the color and your entire library should get the color label reset.

Thanks ! I'll try later, because here it's time to cook dinner ! First, I'll see if auto advance is on, second your suggestion "select all" seems too much deleting, because on some photos I want to keep the color label ! Don't hurry, I'll come back tonight or tomorrow ;)
Enjoy 2021 (year and ON1 !)

I'm sorry, I thought you wanted to clear all photos. You can combine the Show Sub-Folder Contents with and Advanced Search for a single color, then select those you want to remove the color label from. Or, Select All then deselect those you do not want to change. The method I would use would depend upon if there are more to keep or more to remove.
You can also work in sub-folders rather than the entire library at once.

I'm back ! Sorry, neither of your solutions resolve the problem. Selecting just one photo or a group, even using advanced search (which find them), the color label remains (I tested raw, jpg, edited and non edited, same issue); if I click on "none", color disapears 2 or 3 seconds then come back. Some more suggestions ? Thanks

Have the original color labels been embedded into the jpegs? That would explain why they continue to return after having been updated. What has been embedded takes precedence over other sources for metadata.
Try using the Embed Metadata after making a change and see if it still returns.
I had the same problem with cleaning up my keywords list. I'd make changes and get rid of misspellings, etc., and a couple of days later they would be back. I finally tracked down all the returning keywords to files which had them embedded. Embedding the changes as I did my cleaning eventually allowed me to get everything in sync and they no longer return.

I really don't know; I just had a look to embedded, but I don't know how to "un-embed". Maybe the metadata lbal color is onto a on1sidecar, if that's right what a long way to find each file for each photo ! I though too this was an issue on french version, so I relaunched in English, same problem. Is it a risk I'll lost some important edits if I relaunch On1 with shift key > delete settings ?
Edit: I tried photo (color labeled) > copy > delete label, it's ok, label is deleted, so it seems embedded metadata is not the problem ??? But this is not a real solution (have to copy all the labeled photos, change label, trash the labeled etc etc...
Edit 2: Oh nooo ! All labels came back after 10-20 seconds !!!
Edit 3: I tried adding stars, no works, ie give 5 stars (color labeled photos), ok then return as soon to no star !

I'll repeat myself — Embed your Metadata changes if you want them to stick. From your description above you did not try that yet. Try it and see what happens.
RAW files cannot hold metadata like that. They only contain the metadata the camera produced when the photo was taken. Any metadata changes to them will be placed in the .on1 sidecar.
Image format files — jpeg, tiff, psd, etc — can have metadata embedded directly into the image file. IIRC, there was a preference setting in Lightroom to automatically embed metadata into those file types than can hold it. Is it possible you set that option and forgot about it like I did?

You can verify what I'm saying by using another app that allows you to see the image's embedded metadata. Bridge is what I used when I was tracking down the keywords that kept returning. It is free and will ignore the .on1 sidecar files. You can make a change in ON1 then go to Bridge to see that the original color label is still there. Use the Embed Metadata command then go back to Bridge and you should see the new setting.

Thanks for your support again.
The new way I tested is to trash the photo.xmp and photo.jpg.xmp I found in my Mac Pictures folders (choosing someones with label), I was afraid trashing the xmp might delete keywords, gps coordinates and other datas, but it worked. Embedded metadata in my opinion are not the issue source, because even if I'd choose to keep the labels, I was unable to add ratings to the photos; as I can understand impossible to delete some data, I can't understand impossible to add new ones (ratings for instance).
And I'm quite sure labels weren't applied within LR because at the date of the photos I used ON1 yet.
Never mind, as I have not so much "color labeled" photos I'll continue trashing some xmp files.
Sorry for my english, I do my best !!!

The Embed Metadata command also writes those changes to the .on1 & .xmp sidecars.
