Upgrade on the Mac

I upgrade to 2021.1 and can't access my  pictures. The "beach ball" in the Mac goes on for ever. Please HELP

  • Is the beach ball the only thing you see? Can you post a screen shot for us please?
  • What kind of Mac are you running, which OS, and what are the specs for your system?
  • What happens when you Force Quit the program and relaunch it?

  There is a database migration that takes place and it can take a while to complete but you should see a dialog telling you that the migration is in progress. There are a couple other threads here on the Forums discussing the 2021.1 update that might help you too.

  I have the same problem. After the upgrade to 2021.1 and only very few rearrangement activities in the app the beach ball started running forever. At the same time the catalog hierarchy was damaged. All higher level catalog folders disappeared and only the lowest level catalog folders were listed, At the same it was not possible anymore to remove any catalog folder.

  Forced Quit stopped the app but after relaunch the beach ball started running again and the activity monitor showed for ON1 Photo a CPU workload of continously about 320% (in red with the comment "no reaction") and about 4-6% for the ON1Sandbox. Just prior the the third Forced Quit the app crashed.

  Currently the beach ball is running for more than 1 h and the CPU is operated at full capacity ny ON1Photo.

  You need to report this to tech support. Send them a screen shot of your Catalogs panel showing the messed up structure. You can use the Submit a request link below. Be sure to include the information requested in this article. How to submit a problem to ON1 Tech Support - A Step-by-step Guide

  Unfortunately you are going to have to reset the program which means completely removing your Catalogs and Albums and having to recreate them. To do reset the program Force Quit it then relaunch it with the Shift key pressed until you see the Delete Settings dialog. Click the button Reset ON1 Photo RAW 2021 then restart the program once again.

  Relaunching the program with Shift Key pressed and deleting the Settings did not help - Beach Ball continued spinning.

  Relaunching  with Shift Key pressed and resetting ON1 Photo stopped Beach Ball running. When selecting a volume in the Browse Pane for creating a new catalog generated a complete different folder in the catalog list. In addition also most of the keywords disappeared.

  Now I will completely remove the program and reinstall it again.

  It isn't necessary to remove the program. When you Reset ON1 Photo RAW 2021 button you reset the program to the same state as if it had been newly installed. I told you your Catalogs would be gone and have to be rebuilt. When you do that the Keyword List will also be rebuilt.

  Too late - I already removed most parts of the program.

  Reinstall was successful. New catalog list created. When building up the catalog in the background a short note should be shown as I already got nervous due to a poor reaction time. And slowly now also the keyword list builds up.

  So very basic approach applied - but it seems to be successful. I hope the program runs stable now.
