This can take a while to complete and it does appear as though the program is hung when it may not be. The way to tell is to open the Activity Monitor program and look at the Disk Activity report. Search for ON1 so it is the only program being displayed then watch for disk activity; it may take a minute for the display to update. When I did this last night I was seeing a lot of write activity until the process finished.

I had the same issue yesterday.  In my case the app eventually crashed (while I was monitoring it in Activity Monitor).  I simply restarted the upgrade again and this time it went through without ever even displaying the 'upgrading database' message.   Seems to be working fine, though 'fine' is a loose term for this version of On1, since ( IMO ) it's the most sluggish version of the software I've ever used...which is why I hardly even use it anymore.

On1 2021 moving slower than a glacier in Activity Monitor: 1.5 MB every 4 seconds.  I have 2.3 TB of images.  What's the math on how long this will take?  Will I live long enough to see it complete? The good news is that  the orange progress bar appears.  The bad news is that it's not moving.

The whole situation is unacceptable to me.  How can so many people be experiencing this similar issue yet it was not discovered prior to rolling out the update?  Hope it somehow finds its legs and gets moving, Myrna.

    ( 2.3TB * 1024MB/TB ) / ( 1.5MB / 4s ) = 6,280s / 3600 s/hr  = ~1.6hr

Something isn't right. I would kill it. There was another update released late last night (version 15.1.0.10100) so I would download that and reinstall before launching the program again.

Also, be sure you don't have any anti-virus software doing live scans of modified folders as that will kill the migration speed as the AV software fights PR for control of the drive.

Thanks, Brian.  I'm going to download the latest and try it again because I'm still not sure of the second update I tried yesterday.

    A couple of questions

    1) I'm trying to install 15.1.10100...should I uninstall the previous version manually?   I've reinstalled it several times, using the most current link.

    2) If so, should I go into Library>Applications Support and remove everything related to 2021?  Seems as if I'd lose stuff that can't be replaced.

    3) No anti-virus software working, but I do have Clean My Mac X  which tells me that there are bits of 2021 (Layers, Effects, Develop, etc) have haven't been uninstalled properly.  I ignored that and closed down Clean My Mac X.  Do you think this is slowing the process?

    1) I did not. I just installed over the previous version.

    2) That's a last resort. You'll have to decide when the time has come for that.

    3) Do you leave Clean My Mac running all the time? I could see where something like that might slow things down if it is constantly monitoring disk activity.

Same here, it is slow as a rheumatic snail. I have a 13 TB photo library on a Synology NAS 918+, so It might take forever until it finishes...

Gyula, have hope.  I reinstalled the update (had to force quit the slow update, made sure PR was closed and restarted my computer-to make sure I didn't have bits lurking unseen) and then it took about 4 hours for my 3.2TB of photos to be completed.  During that time, I saw the orange progress bar creeping along in Database Upgrade: Saving Objects.  I also paused Clean MyMac X, as Brian had recommended suspending all virus protection (Even thought it isn't anti-virus, it monitors the drives and could have bee competing with PR. Then the software worked...until it didn't.  Hung when I tried to export a photo...received the message that it was updating metadata--not sure why it decided to do that since I previously changed metadata three hours before. I'm only giving this detail because you may find hiccups even after it saves your photos to its database.
