exporting
I try to export to a chosen folder and on1 will send the photo to the chosen folder and the current folder, which is different , how do I stop that?

The program only exports 1 image per selected image. It cannot create copies on multiple locations. The exported file always goes to the currently selected folder in the Browser.
Do you have the Show Sub-Folder Contents option turned on? If you select a folder with that option on then select a photo from one of the selected folder's sub-folders then do an export the exported image goes to the selected parent folder. I get caught up by this every once in a while too.
To be sure that the exported file goes to the same folder as the image you've been working on you need to Right-click the image before exporting and use the Reveal in Folders command so that the folder containing the image becomes the currently selected folder. Alternatively, you can specify the actual folder in the Export panel rather than using the Current Folder option for the Destination.

Thanks for the help on this mothers day.. however I don't know where the Show Sub-Folder option is. and when I right click on the photo in On1 nothing happens. I seem to have problems with people understanding the problem so let me try again.
I put the SD card in the computer, open On1 and import from devise. On 1 imports the photos. I work on them and then choose one to export.. I hit the export tab and another screen comes up asking me to choose a location or file. I do so.. I then hit export.. On1 exports the photo to the chosen fila AND the current file.
if the chosen file and current file are different I get two copies, one to each file.

Some screen shots showing us what your Export settings and the screen after the export finishes would be helpful.
We also have some problems with terminology.
I'm not sure what you mean by "export tab". Do you mean the Export button in the lower right corner of the window that causes the Export panel to be displayed?
A file cannot be exported to a file. Files are exported to folders.
Let us see the screen shots then I'll know better what's going on and how to help.

yes button................. I do not know how to do a screen shot. This is very frustrating.
All I want is one photo to be exported to a chosn folder.
in the export panel it askes to chose a folder. I do so and it exports to that folder and the current folder which are different for some reason.

Pressing the Print Screen button will copy your screen to the clipboard. From there you can paste it directly into one of these comment boxes. You can also open a drawing program and paste it into a new document if you want to draw on it to highlight certain areas then add the image file to the comments.
Another option is to use your cell phone to take a picture of your computer screen.
I really need to know exactly how you have your Export panel set up.

here goes I think.

NOPE... i am trying to send you the copy of the screen that I took with the phone and it states I can upload up to 2 mg. then dosn't... Tell you what.. that won't letme send you the photo. so I quit

Just go to Photo RAW and press the Print Screen button then come back here and click in the Add comment field and press Control-V to paste the screenshot here.

Patrick, why do you say that Export puts a copy in the current folder? Do you end up with a JPG next to the original RAW file?

I'd like you to try something. I think you may have a misunderstanding of how the program works. It really isn't possible for the program to export 2 copies of the same photo to 2 different locations at the same time.
Select 1 photo then use the Edit > Add Subfolder command with the option to Copy Selected Items into Subfolder selected.
Now go into the folder and add another subfolder only leave both checkboxes shown above unchecked so an empty folder gets created. Your browser window should look like this:
Now select the image and set up your Export panel like this:
- Set the Save To setting to Folder
- Click the Choose… button and select the
- untitled folder we just created
- Click Export
When the export has finished you should see exactly the same thing in the Browser window as shown above. Double-click the untitled folder to see the exported jpeg inside.

Boy Howdy you guys are patient.. but let me tell you.. If I choose to send a photo to the Blue file, and under CURRENT FILE its a green file, it will send the photo to both files.
to answer Rick.. NO it will send the jpeg file to both files.
These files are in my picture section of my computer.
Let me try what you have put on.

I don't know what you mean by "Blue file" and "CURRENT FILE its a green file". This is why it is important to let us see what your screen looks like.
Also, once again, you cannot export a file to a file. You can export from one file type to another file type (or the same file type except for a RAW file) but you can only export to a folder. I know it sounds pedantic but using the proper terminology is important to clear communication and our better understanding what you want to tell us.

OK OK. when I pick a photo to export I go to the export screen, Under location it states save to. current folder then you can press the v and it wants me to choose a folder so if I do it will send the photo to both folders if they are different. the blue and green were examples i just used. when I try to send you a screen shot that I take on the phone it states ( in pink) you can only upload images (jpeg, gif or png) image uploads are limited to 2 mg.
And just for grins I will mention.. right now my current file and chosen file are the same. so I hit export and it send two copies to the same file to that folder.. both are jpeg.
why don't we quit for the night, you guys eat a good dinner or maybe some wine and I will play with this.. Thank you

What you are describing cannot happen. You Save To either the Current Folder OR to a destination folder. The destination folder can be the same as the current folder or it can be different. Regardless of the settings only 1 file gets exported and it gets exported to the place specified in Save to.
What you are telling us is that you are seeing 2 jpeg files with identical names in the same FOLDER. That cannot happen. No operating system will allow that to happen. When a new file is saved with the same name as an existing file the existing file gets overwritten or the new file gets something appended to it to identify it as being a copy—either a sequence number or the word 'copy'.
There is still something you are seeing that we are not understanding.
Why can't you use the Print Screen -> Paste feature to paste a screen shot here? That is a standard Windows OS feature available regardless of the program you are running.

OK where do I find Print Screen. is it in On1 or some other pace.. I will give it a try.
0 -
It's a key on your keyboard. Should be with the Page Up/Page Down & Home/End buttons.

Are we talking about Photo Raw? If we're talking about On1 Effects in stand-alone mode, it might be saving an extra copy.
0 -
That could explain it.

Brian.. I quit.. for some reason the Print screen isn't working (I did find it) it did something with the one shot and then nothing.. I have been trying to send a photo via INSERT IMAGE and it tells me it need to be a jpeg I checked it is. but it won't print it, SO I quit. you have tried hard but I can't seem to get it together..
I did take a photo with my phone of the two photo's in the same file it won't let me send them on this site or this page. SO thank you again I will try again tomarrow.

Just checking my Support requests, and from Apr 2020 I submitted a bug report about 2 files being created in Effects 2019.
From our Development team:
"This is as designed. It behaves like single image edit mode where Done will prompt a save. Best practice is to use Done rather than Export"
0 -
You don’t need to use the Insert Image feature. It’s broken anyhow. Just press Control-V to paste the clipped image directly into the comment field.

Patrick, what Rick says makes perfect sense. The Export created one copy, the Done button creates the second.
Which program are you running, ON1 Photo RAW or ON1 Effects?
0 -
On! Photo Raw 2021
0 -
LOL
Ok, I agree with Brian, without some screenshots, we can't know what's going on.

How are you entering into the editor? Are you using Single Image Mode?
In Single Image Mode the program automatically creates a jpeg when you finish editing. If you are in that mode and are exporting the same image you would get two copies.
0 -
Hmm, never occurred to me that Photo Raw would have the same bug.
0 -
I don't see it as a bug. The Single Image Mode is meant for beginners. When they finish editing they're presented with a finished photo ready for printing or posting on the web. Most of us long ago turned off the dialog that gives us that option. It also happens by default when you double-click a raw file in the Finder/Explorer and Photo RAW is the default editor.

On my screen there are many photos, I choose one, edit it, then export it. when it gets to the folder I choose it is a Jpeg.
0 -
And and what happens if you do not Export it before returning to the Browser? Do you still get a job copy of the image?
