What to do about NoNoise?
Will it be an update to ON1 2021.5 or not as I see all of the other apps (Effects, Resize, etc.) which can be purchased separately are already included in this product? (I already have ON1 2021.5 so I would not need to order ON1 NoNoise or do I?)
Will it be integrated into ON1 Photo RAW so it won't need to be run separately. The preview lists it as a plugin to a variety of apps but doesn't list ON Photo RAW which means...?
The ON1 NoNoise app is great in concept and I want it. However I don't know which way to get it is correct.I don't want to buy it and find out later it was to be an update to ON Photo RAW 2021.5. Please clarify this issue so I will understand what to do.

Same question here! Since all the other „plugins“ you sell also separately are included in On1 Photo RAW, this is quite confusing. It is not mentioned anywhere on your website if this will be the same for NoNoise. Please clarify. I assume most users do not want a separate, external program in addition to Photo RAW.

According to this release, it's only going to be stand alone. And it seems odd that it won't be usable from within On1 RAW.
https://www.on1.com/blog/new-product-announcement-on1-nonoise-ai/
"Owners of ON1 Photo RAW 2021 or other 2021 ON1 apps and plugins will receive special discounted pricing for this all-new product once preorders begin in late May. Subscribers to ON1 Photo RAW will receive this plugin for free as part of their plans."

Thing is when On1 release the next version of PR 2022 will NoNoise be part of that? Buy it now as a stand alone then get a slap in the face when it is included in the new PR 2022.
I use Topaz Denoise AI and will be waiting to see what On1 offers in the future. Russ.

There is a reply from On1 support on another post to say it will be included within Photo RAW 2022, release of which is anticipated in the Autumn

Here is a link to that post.

@Russel Web: "...slap in the face.." - That's a good point! As an On1 Photo RAW user for years, I currently see no reason to buy NoNOISE. For those who do not yet own On1, the offer may be interesting. One neglects the existing customers. More clearly: I would buy the plugin if I were not already a customer. Being a customer, I will wait what the future brings...

I also use Topaz Denoise AI which has set the bar extremely high, the only downside being having to leave the RAW workflow. If ON1 incorporated NoNoise into the RAW workflow then I am all for it, otherwise no thanks.

As a Topaz Denoise AI user, I too am concerned about the current discount offer.
It's possible to download and evaluate a free trial of all On1 products, yet we are invited to "pre-order" NoNoise without having any chance to test it's effectiveness.
It's all very well to say that all On1 products have a 14 day money back guarantee, but I see no mention of this on the offer page, nor do I see any mention of NoNoise becoming part of PhotoRAW 2022 in the future.
It would be very helpful of On1 could clarify the situation regarding these points. As a current On1 Plus member, I'm tempted to wait until the next program update to see if NoNoise is to be integrated into PhotoRAW.
I rarely use Denoising software anyway, and for the time being Topaz does such a good job, It's difficult to imagine how it can be improved upon.
Incidentally, Topaz does NOT work on the raw file, you create a tiff for it to work on. I would imagine NoNoise AI will work in the same way.0 -
With the Portrait AI plug-in, I asked for and got a free trial. This gave me a chance to assess it and it therefore influenced my decision on whether to upgrade to Photo Raw 2021.
I'll do the same with the denoise plug-in, although it's of less interest to me since I am a big fan of Topaz DeNoise AI.

"But I do agree that current marketing of Nonoise including the “never to be repeated” discount should clearly state that Nonoise will be included in PR 2022.
Edit: It is somewhat disingenuous to offer a discount to current owners without mentioning this. The only reason for current 2021 owners to purchase Nonoise now is early adopters not wanting to wait until the 2022 release of PR or those who have already decided not to upgrade to 2022 in the autumn."
Agree 100%.
I'll stick with Topaz until NoNoise is incorporated into PhotoRAW.0 -
Hi, Slightly off track but still relevant IMO, There is a special offer on now for the On1 Plus membership (£43.91 in UK) the last two upgrades cost me £61 for 2020 version and 2021 version £52 so as I understand it if I take a years subscription now for On1 Plus I will get the 2022 version free under that subscription and also would I get the NoNoise free under again the subscription? Russ.

No, why would you understand that? There is no mention of software in the Plus description.
Plus does not apply to software at all. Plus is only about training and extras.

There is a PhotoRaw subscription available, but it is a different thing to Plus

OK my mistake thank You

Clearly On1 wants to use the new NR to spur sales. The timing is odd. There are 2 markets and any corporation would like to tap both- Those current On1 users that use On1 as their main editor and those that use other editors and use plug-ins to add capabilities to their current workflow. They have chosen to appeal to the plug-in users first and hope that the buzz will also spur users to upgrade to the full editor in the fall or move from a prior edition to the new edition. The second choice would have been to wait and upgrade 2022 and get the buzz from a large current user base going to spur sales with the plug in (especially since there are other good solutions out there -Topaz and PL4 for example). I might have waited and used the second strategy, but they made their choice for what I expect are a host of business reasons. Both strategies will work to a greater or lesser extent.

Whatever the strategy, it's confusing everyone. There is an advantage though, if NoNoise has a 14 day trial, then Photo Raw users will be able to try NoNoise before deciding whether to upgrade to 2022.

I am one of those loyal users who unfailingly upgrade every year. Its been hard to watch new features offered to others before me. This one will be useful to me as I am an M43 user (Panasonic G9) and the Only thing that I dont like about M43 is low light noise. The newer generation of NR (Topaz, PL4) levels the playing field for M43. I am using PL4 for my low light NR now and it is very good. It will be a good thing if I can do it all within PR 2022. Even better, if it is as good as they claim.

I am also an Micro 4/3rds User.
The last time that ON1 updated their noise controls in 2019, it felt like I had a set of brand new cameras. I am hoping for the 'brand new camera' feeling.. So, yes I am also looking forward to NoNoise AI... :-)

Another thing that concerns me is that in the information it says that NoNoise saves it's files in DNG format.
I hope this is selectable, with tiff being an option, since at the moment DNG does not form any part of my workflow, and I'm not interested in introducing yet another process.
If I want to work in an external (to On1) program then my preferred format is tiff.0 -
Yes Brian, agreed.
So you start with a photo.cr2 + photo.xmp + photo.on1
After DeNoise you would then have a photo.cr2 + photo.xmp + photo.on1 + photo_copy.dng + photo_copy.xmp + photo_copy.on1, and if you need a tiff you would end up with …….
Wouldn’t it be nice to keep just the .cr2 and sidecars.

No, that's not what I had in mind at all.
Whenever you invoke a "send to" command in On1, the program automatically generates tiff file which resides next to your original raw file and is what is passed to the external editor. As far as I know, no developer/editor actually modifies your original raw file, it simply adds a set of instructions on how to modify the original raw file, which in the case of On1 is stored in the sidecar file. When you have finished the edits the image is then returned to On1 as a tiff.
I'm expecting NoNoise to work in a similar manner, with one of the "Save as" options to be DNG.To write a raw convertor program for every raw format that's available would be an enormous task, which is one of the reasons Adobe want everyone to use DNG. I can only assume that On1 feel the same way, otherwise they would need to provide raw convertors for every popular raw format.
BTW I understand that most, if not all, raw file formats are based on a modified tiff file.0 -
"Whenever you invoke a "send to" command in On1, the program automatically generates tiff file…" This is mostly right. It actually sends the type of file you have chosen in Preferences > Files. I keep on Show these options every time so I can choose the file type I want at the time of export. Some of the programs I use won't accept a psd file others prefer them.
I expect that when NoNoise is integrated into Photo RAW you won't need to export the denoised image. I expect it to continue with ON1's non-destructive editing workflow and it becomes another layer in the RAW processing stack.

Awe man, So it seems like I might have gotten screwed by the unclear messages from On1 about NoNoise. I am an On1 user and have upgraded every year for the past few years but I also preordered NoNoise as I thought it was just a standalone app but now you guys are saying it might be part of the 2022 release that I will most likely getting. Man that a double wammy.
Do we know a release date? Its almost half way through June 2021.

You can ask for your money back.

As to "when", On1 hasn't put out any promo videos on YouTube yet, so I expect it to be later rather than sooner.
It's not almost "half way" through June, but a third of the way.
