    • Are you using the program as a stand-alone or as a plug-in to some other software?
    • Have you turned on the mask viewing mode? The preview would be all white without any mask applied.
    • Can you post us a screenshot?

I was using it as a stand-alone. I closed it and came here when I couldn't figure it out and when I went back and reopened it, it was working correctly.

Thank you for the quick response.

I have also just downloaded the software. It crashes as soon as I try to open a file. 3 attempts 3 crashes. This is being used as a standalone.

    I am using a macbook pro 2011

John, which OS version are you running and what are your MacBook Pro's specs? Have you tried reinstalling the software yet?

Just installed on my Mac mini 2019 and that runs fine. Will try on my MacBook Pro 2019 tomorrow.

Old Mac is High Sierra,, 2.33GHz Intel i5 with 8Gb of memory and a VERY fast SSD. Runs all the latest software fine. Do you suggest I delete and reinstall?

MacOS 10.14 Mojave is the minimum required OS.

Thanks. Thats a shame, but I suppose only to be expected that a 10 year old computer will at some point start to fail to run certain software…

Different one...Working fine on Mac OS and have watched all the videos. Have a photo in ON1 2021 (latest version) which I want to use with No Noise. No matter what I do it will not pass the RAW file over when I send to No noise from ON1 2021. On the video there seems to be a pop up box appear when you send the photo across, but this never happens. It must be something I am doing wrong. Have tried changing preferences in ON1 2021 no change. Any ideas?

There a 2 ways you can get a photo into NoNoise from Photo RAW. You can drag and drop from the Browser onto the program's window or icon in the Dock, or, you can use the Send To… command.

How are you trying to get the files from PR to NN, what actions are you taking and what is the response you get from that? I normally use the Send To… command but I just tried the drag to the Dock icon and I like that better (now that I've added NN's icon to it) as it skips the step of the program asking me which version I want to send, edited or original.

The warning dialog the videos mention only shows up when you try to open a file in one program that already has an .on1 sidecar file from the other program. You can see it in either program. It's just telling us that the edits made in the other program will be ignored by this program if it doesn't understand them. Just click OK when you do see it.

So I am in PR working on a photo. I wish to send it to NN, So I go to send to and select NN. A copy of the photo is made and sent to NN. I then get the message that this is not a raw file and I will get less effective results. No matter what I set in the preferences of PR, I get the same message. if I drag a raw file into NN then no problem.

I have played with the settings again and sending it as a PSD file gets rid of the "this is not a RAW file" message...

I have now finished with NN and want to send it back to PR "noiseless", but no, it saves it as a DNG file. Why can't it return it back to PR as TOPAZ sharpen does?

I would have thought that there must be a way of moving files between the two sibling pieces of software keeping the benefits of raw. Unless there is no “raw” integration between the two, especially as the update to PR was to give “better integration with NN”.

Is this for a future release?

Am I asking too much for there to be a seamless move back and forth, such as the one between LR and PS?

    Any clues would help.

If you are going to use the Send To… command you need to turn on the Preferences > Files > Show these options every time option. Then you can tell the program to Edit Original.

Or, just add the NoNoise app icon to your Dock and simply drag and drop your raw file from Photo RAW's Browser onto that. It will open the raw file directly without the dialog above.

Note that there is an option now to show the preferences if they were shut off. Just hold the ALT (Win) key while opening the App in Send To.

See note at top of NoNoise user Guide page 8

Ok have tried dragging raw file onto NN, from PR. It still tries to save as a dng file once I am finished. It doesn't return the file back to PR without saving.

    Will go back and play…

    thanks guys

Went back and copied your screen shot exactly as you have. NN crashed.

Tried again, changed nothing, it decided to export it as a TIFF file. Not as a RAW file

Seems to forget that you want to edit the original. Is there a system setting that will allow me to set this permanently, have tried several different routes and unless you tell it, it defaults to TIFF/PSD/JPEG.  Rick's suggestion works, but having to do this every time is not "integration". Any suggestion guys?

Seems to forget that you want to edit the original. Is there a system setting that will allow me to set this permanently No, only with the option I gave above. The program does not have a method for tying a default file type to the individual program you want to send it to. I've quit using the Send To… command and now I just drag from the Browser to the NoNoise icon in my Dock. That always opens the file you dragged.

It still tries to save as a dng file once I am finished. If you click the Done button you should see a Save dialog where you can choose the file format, give it a new name, etc.

When you use the Export button you have complete control over how the file gets exported. Along the left side are Presets for commonly used option. The right side allows you to set your own custom settings which can then be saved as a new Preset.

That seemed to work, but is a bit of a faff. I hope that in the future we see true integration between the two pieces of software. Thanks for your help guys

There will be full integration once the NoNoise module has been added to the Photo RAW program. That is supposed to happen with the 2022 Upgrade in the fall.
