Which MacOS version are you running and what are your system specs?

Same for me, using High Sierra

Soon as I go to select photo starts and crashes

MacOS 10.14 Mojave is the minimum OS you can use. You need to upgrade your OS.

I'm on Mojave 10.14.6 latest update and Yes ON1 NoNoise AI crashes my computer. It completely shuts off my computer and I can only start it back up by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
NoNoise AI and ON1 Photo Raw are the only apps that cause this problem!
My system
Mac Pro 5,1 mid 2012
2 x 3.46 6-Core Intel Zeon
Mojave 10.14.6
Radeon 580 8GB Graphics Card
64GB of RAM0 -
You need to speak with support about this. If your computer is completely locking up it is having a kernel panic and that is completely different than a user app crashing. Which isn't to say the app is not contributing to the panic, only that they are not the same thing.
You should be able to force your computer to shut down by pressing the Power switch and keeping it pressed for a few seconds. If that doesn't shut down your computer in less than 30 seconds it's further evidence of a kernel panic.
There is a good chance that all the unplugging of your system has caused some corruption at the system level. You might want to consider booting into Recovery Mode and reinstalling the OS. I don't think you'll need to wipe your drive or anything like that, just reinstall Mojave over your current copy.

Hi Brian thanks for your help!
Yes I can shut down my computer by pressing the Power Switch. I've already reinstalled Mojave 10.14.6 over my current Mojave 10.14.6. This new ON1 NoNoise completely shuts down my computer using the sample image. Shortly after I play around with the controls my computer shuts off.
This has been going on for quite some time. Some time ago I reinstalled ON1 Photo Raw 2021 and it has been pretty good so far, but using it for while sometimes does the same thing. I don't use it too often now. But ON1 NoNoise can't be used. Maybe I'll try uninstalling and installing that again also.
Thank you and yes I have contacted support!

Does it crash if you try an image of your own?

Also, what happens if you run the program in Safe Mode?

Hi Brian, Thanks for your help!
I reinstalled it according to directions by Tech Support. Seems to have worked so far. Here is the summary in case anyone else needs to do this. I went through the same thing with ON1 Photo Raw 2021.
Tech Support > Thank you for directions below!
* Note, the User Library is hidden by default. To reach it, open a new Finder window, then press and hold the Option key on your keyboard while you click the Go menu at the top of your screen. Select the Library option which appears. From there, you can continue into the Application Support/ON1.
If you have installed any presets or extras you can back up these folders in the following locations:
Go to the User level Library:
Please proceed with a manual deletion of ON1 No Noise AI folders and files:
Go to the System level Library:
`MacHD>Library>Application Support: ON1: Delete all No Noise AI 2021 folders
And the User level Library
~/Library/Application Support/ON1/ Delete all No Noise AI 2021 folders
Also in the User Library
~/Library/Preferences (delete all instances of com.ononesoftwareNo Noise AI 2021.plist pref files)
Reboot the computer after doing above steps, then reinstall ON1 No Noise AI 2021 from this link:

Glad to hear you got it working and thanks for the info.

I have the same issue of crashing on High Sierra. ON1 2021 works just fine. What is going to happen when this is folded into ON1? Will the minimum OS be changed?

Mac OS X 10.14 Mojave is the minimum OS that NoNoise AI will run on so yes, you can expect that will also be required for the 2022 Upgrade.
