ON1 NoNoise: "Open" any RAW / JPEG file take a very long time, - about 4-5 minutes!
"Open" any RAW or JPEG file takes a very long time, - about 4-5 minutes! In this time I am able to open and develop ( Topaz or Lightroom Classic ) about 4 - 6 files! I have Win10 newest Version, 8GB RAM, very fast Processor etc. When I develop and "export" ( save ) any RAW File / JPEG and want to open new one, I have to leave the ON" NoNoise and and I must start it again. "Reloading" of the next File is not possible. In this "form" ON1 NoNoise is absolutely useless for me.

Have you tried configuring the OS Graphics settings and your video card drivers so NoNoise AI can take advantage of the GPU? This article in the Knowledge Base explains how to do it for Photo RAW. Just substitute ON1 NoNoise AI where needed. I don't know if it will help as I'm a Mac user but it won't hurt to try.
Why can't you open a new file without having to exit the program?
- What happens when you use Control-O; do you see the File Open dialog?
- What happens when you select a file from it?
- What happens when you drag and drop a new image file onto the program's window?

What if you just left both Photo Raw and NoNoise open and dragged your RAW to NoNoise. That way you won't have to wait.

...my graphic card supports DirectX and OPEN GL 4.4 ( the graphic chip has a newest update, I use the newest WIN 10, 8GB RAM ). It works excellent with ON1 RAW 2018 / ON1 RAW 2020, sowie with the newest Affinity, Adobe Photoshop / Lightroom Classic and TOPAZ DeNoise 6. When I use these softwares, opening of a new picture ( it doesn´t matter JPEG or RAW ) takes about 30 seconds. Actually I tried to change the settings of my graphic chip ( in a preferences of ON1 NoNoise ), but it has given no changes. It stays "the same": opening of a new image in "ON1 NoNoise" takes 4min 44sec ( "ON1 NoNoise" stand alone ) and it also takes about 5 minutes to open any image in "ON1 NoNoise" as a plugin of Affinity or Lightroom / Photoshop. The installation of ON1 NoNoise was easy and the software started "itself" very fast; the only problem is extrem long time of images opening. It make no difference, if I drag and drop the new image / folder or open with an "Open Button".

Something to remember is that NoNoise works totally differently than the other denoise software. It analyzes the raw data before it gets demosaiced. Until that process has finished there is nothing to see as there isn't any image to be displayed. That being said, 4 to 5 minutes is a long time. I just opened a 43.7MB CR3 file in 20 seconds.
How is your system configured? I have my photos stored on an external SSD. I also have a 2nd SSD which is used solely for the scratch space for the programs that allow me to specify where to save that. All of ON1's software does in the Preferences > System panel.
If you have any anti-virus software that is actively scanning scratch space that will slow things down as every time the program writes to it the A/V software locks up the drive while it scans the new changes. I turn that off for both my Scratch drive and my Pictures folder. Those I scan in off hours when it won't interfere with photo editing.
Adding some more RAM would undoubtedly help. With that CR3 file loaded and NoNoise just sitting in the background while I write this it is taking 3.69GB of RAM. That's almost half of what you have in your system so if your memory usage is tight there could be a lot of memory swapping going on to give NoNoise what it needs. You can monitor your disk drive and RAM useage while NN is loading the file to get an idea if that is a factor or not.
Other than that, I suggest talking with tech support to see if they have any better ideas.

Yesterday I have installed ON1 NoNoise on my second laptop. This one has also very fast graphic chip (Open GL 4.4, DirectX 12 - with newest update), newest Win10, enough RAM. And I have the similary problem. To open an image takes more, than 4-5 minutes. I have tried to change settings in ON1 NoNoise preferences, but it doesn´t matter, what I did, it is still "the same". The both computer work fantastic with Adobe Lightroom / Photoshop, Affinity, ON1 Raw 2018 / 2020, TOPAZ Denoiser etc. I make a lot of Timelapses; this work needs really many "RAM" and processor´s speed ( much more than ON1 NoNoise needs! ), but it works absolutely fast and never "freeze". I also tried to uninstall the ON1 NoNoise and install again - no change. I switch off the Antivirus Software - no change. It doesn´t matter what I do and set on, the opening of an image in On1 NoNoise takes each tiem about 4-5 minutes...

Opening a 1 Mb file loads to NoNoise in a reasonable time. But, most of my files are over 10 MB and are taking a very long time to load. Files are certainly not loading as quickly as shown in the tutorials. Great results when I can access the files. But the time is unacceptable.

Update 15.07.21
I wanted to try again, and I extendet the RAM of my second laptop up to 16 GB. The graphic card has DIRECT X 12 and OPEN GL 4.4, laptop has enough place ( 2 TB ), there are no viruses and similary, all is set on perfect. But opening of RAW or JPEG File takes all the time 4 -. 5 minutes ( or longer!). The same laptop works with TOPAZ, Lightroom, Photoshop, Affinity or ON1 Raw 2018 absolut correctly and I open the new File ( it doesn´t matter RAW or JPEG ) in a few seconds.

Marius, comparing NoNoise to ANY of those other programs makes no sense since NoNoise is doing its processing WHILE the image loads and none of those other programs do that.
When you click Done in Topaz (DeNoise?) how long does it take to get a result? That's what you should be comparing.

Hello Rick, thank You for your answer.
When I click "done" inTopaz DeNoise, it will be "ready" ( saved ) in about 30 seconds. Saving ( Exporting ) in Lightroom takes about 1 minute. Saving in Affinity takes a few seconds. I mean exactly the same RAW Image.

I gave up on it after spending a fair amount of time on it, and asked for my money back. I just hope they dont stick this into ON1 photo raw in its next update and mess up ON1 raw.

Glad I haven't splashed the cash. It is unusable with the time it takes/

Have you tried it? On my PC it takes 30 seconds to open and denoise a 200 MB RAW file.0 -

You should contact tech support about this. It should not be taking that long to open your files. On my M1 Mac Mini it takes about 30 seconds to open a 50MB RAW file.
Wayne, it has already been announced (repeatedly) that this will be included in Photo RAW 2022.

Hello Brian,
thank You for your message. Actually I have installed the new NoNoice Update. Now it takes 1min 30sec to open 19,8 MB RAW File. It is much shorter, but always "a little bit" too long. I tried it an my both laptops ( with 8GB & 16GB RAM ), but it makes no difference. I still hope, that the future updates will solve this problem.

Have you contacted support about this yet? What did they have to say?
8GB is the bare minimum amount of RAM needed for the program to run. I have both Photo RAW and NoNoise running in the background, not even an open file in NNAI yet, and they occupy 7.84GB & 1.05GB respectively. You can see where an 8GB system might struggle and all the memory swapping to disc to make enough room for the programs to run in will have a definite impact on performance. Have you considered adding more RAM to your system? You should see an overall improvement in performance, not just with ON1 programs.

Sorry, I missed where you said you'd tried it on a 16GB system too.
One other related thought is how much room is left on your internal boot drive and what kind of drive is it? A nearly full spinning drive will be slow to handle any memory to disc swapping that is needed.
