Normal upgrade pricing (non-subscription) will also be announced once the product is officially announced.

So far, all updates to NoNoise AI (currently at 16.0.1.10861) have been free.

No price has been announced yet for the upcoming 2022 version of Photo RAW which will have NoNoise integrated into it. https://www.on1.com/blog/on1-insider-a-sneak-peek-at-nonoise-ai-inside-photo-raw/

Hmmm, interesting that the page say the official release is next month! That seems pretty early to me.

Brian Lawson yeah, my query is more about whether there will be a discount if you own both products different from you just owning PR2021

End of next month? That gives them 5 more weeks.

Peter, you should contact Kahlie through the Submit a request link below. Use the Customer Support option. She would be the one who can answer pricing questions assuming the company is ready to announce them.

Yeah, already have done and it was in doing that that the above blog entry was presented to me. I’m aware she lurks here too so that’s why I posted here rather than in their FB page :)

Re upgrading having bought NoNoise already, seemingly NoNoise AI owners will get a coupon when PR2022 is released, but what that coupon might offer, I don’t know. Guess I need to be patient…

    Great answers

1 wonder if something escaped too early. When I look at the link above it doesn't say anything about release date, so has it been changed.

With all the sneak peeks this week my expectation was that the announcement would be around 1st Sept with the Dan and Dylan introduction show a day or so later, then release towards end of October. That would tie in with the vanished reference to release at "end of next month".

I am liking most of what is being revealed in the sneak peeks, only the time lapse video is of no real interest to me and I would be more likely to use the automatic sky mask on other adjustments than actual sky replacements.

My one big concern is what impact integrating NoNoise into On1 will have on load times. The sneak peek suggests default is current noise reduction so that may mean no change. Will the reprocessing that is seen when loading an image in the standalone NoNoise then take place when NoNoise is selected, with a delay there? If image has been set to use NoNoise will the extra processing be needed every time the image is loaded or viewed? That could be a worry.

All looks smooth on the sneak peek but no information as to how these are produced.

My other worry is that for some reason On1 always manage to include a change that, to me makes no sense!

2019 - local adjustments not stacked, reversed in a later point release

2020 - removal of smart albums, still missing (and no sign in sneak peek videos)

2021 - replacement of traditional cloning by new clone and heal tool, added back alongside very soon after release

As things come in threes I hope that is the lot and that 2022 doesn't bring any nasty surprise that will force changes in workflow!

This is just a guess of course, but my feeling is that the AI noise reduction and it's inherent processing time will happen when you choose to use that option. Why go through all the work to NoNoise before the user has said that's what should be used?

    Two comments:

The upgrades look good (all of them)- Am very pleased that backup is finally included- Very necessary if you are going to put your work/business on this platform.

Very excited about use of photoshop plugins. Not sure how they are going to implement it but if it can use a variety of photoshop plugins , it will help with workflow tremendously

No Noise appears to be excellent.

Sky swap may be useful depending on how its implemented - Lots of ways to get there- even with current tools

I also like the new masking tools.

Overall seems like a potent upgrade.

Surprised they didn't offer two other options -  upgrade current license only or upgrade current license + plus.

One of the strong points of PR is Effects. Imo one can hardly do any serious post processing without curves, sharpening, colour adjustment and dynamic contrast. And there will probably more. Also portrait Ai works great. HDR and Panorama are part of many of the competitors software.

If I understand correct  all these and more are taken out of the default PR and will be available at extra cost. This I find a strange move. But maybe I did not understand it correct.

I think you misunderstood Martin. Photo RAW has always sold individual components of the program as plug-ins for other software. It doesn't mean the functionality has been removed from PR.

Look at NoNoise AI & the previous plug-in Portrait AI. They released them as plug-ins and stand-alone apps before integrating their functionality into Photo RAW.

I sincerely hope so Brian, but the special offer states that plugins are no longer included in Photo Raw 2022 and that  makes me a bit suspicious.

You should ask Kahlie in Customer Service for a definitive answer but I'd say all that means is that if you purchase the program you won't get the plug-ins included for free. That does not mean that the functionality provided by that plug-in version is going to be removed from the program, just that you won't get the Photoshop, Capture One, Lightroom, and Affinity plug-ins that currently come with it.

See https://www.on1.com/blog/on1-insider-a-letter-from-craig/ which says more separation of full product and plugins. All the sneak peeks show a full version.

Where is all the information about 2022. I have only seen the sneak peeks which haven’t cover masking and backups yet.

Something tells me that On1 is moving gradually to a subscription model. My"early bird' upgrade offer is $89 for the cheapest subscription, compared with about $150 for purchase outright. This latter is about double what I paid to upgrade from 2020 to 2021.

There is an "unpublished" video on YouTube showing a new Line Masking Tool that looks pretty cool. It appears the company has uploaded it to YouTube but hasn't made it visible for people to see. I'm not sure how the person I got the link from found it. Because it is unpublished I don't feel I should post the link here, sorry.

    Ray...

You said: Something tells me that On1 is moving gradually to a subscription model.

On1 just posted this on the Facebook page...

"PSA – ON1 will always offer the choice between purchasing a subscription or perpetual license when it comes to our software."

Please see this section from the FAQs for information on Plugins moving forward:

Will ON1 Photo RAW 2022 continue to work as a plugin?

Starting with version 2022, plugin capability will be separate from Photo RAW. However, each new technology provided in the plugins is included in the Photo RAW 2022 workflow. Moving forward, plugins will be included with the ON1 Professional Plugin Bundle 2022 and individual apps only. This will help eliminate confusion many customers face when choosing which ON1 app to order. Photo RAW customers who want the ultimate in flexibility for launching individual ON1 apps as standalones OR plugins, outside of Photo RAW, will want the Professional Plugin Bundle included in this offer. The Plugin Bundle is a $149 value and includes the new 2022 plugin/standalone versions of NoNoise, Effects, Resize, Portrait, and HDR - all delivered in late fall.

Rick that's as may be, but they are using pricing to go that route in my view.

    Still unclear for me.

I received email with the early bird offer, which includes the plugin package, ecc.

I'm not interested in the plugin package as I only use PR as standalone. All the plugin features are included in PR2022 and only usable within the program, correct?

So why should I purchase the early bird offer? Will I have another offer to only purchase the PR 2022 upgrade? Thank you

Kahlie Thank for your explanation. I got confused by the text of the early bird offering. Maybe my English is not always good enough.

Gianni, yes. The 2nd post up at the top says...

Normal upgrade pricing (non-subscription) will also be announced once the product is officially announced.

Kahlie, I can't find the FAQ about Plugins that you mentioned above. Is it in the Knowledge base? It's not coming up.

  • Brian Lawson Community moderator

I could not find it either.

I just got an IM from Patrick. The FAQ won't be released publicly until the program is released. He asked that we keep the info to ourselves until then.

  • PETER BREADY

I don’t see the logic in that as that might discourage any pre-orders if they’re not going to release information to potential buyers until the software is actually released. Surely that would only add to the confusion that users have?

    0
  • Brian Lawson Community moderator

Apparently they sent the pre-order email to a select set of customers. The link to the FAQ is in the email they receive so they have full access to its info. Once the program has been released next month that page will be hooked into the rest of the site for public consumption.

    Thanks for sending that link.

Ok, this thread makes a whole lot more sense now. This was not for a 'normal' pre-order and doesn't apply to those who simply want to upgrade to the next version. That pre-order is yet to come.

Don't see why it has to be a big secret though, it's still confusing people.
