The only thing the company has said is that it will support Photoshop plug-ins. "You can now run plugins made for Adobe® Photoshop® right inside of ON1 Photo RAW." That implies if you can run it in Ps you can run it in PR. We'll have to wait for more info to see if there are any limitations on them.

Given that not all ON1 plugins will run in Photoshop (ON1 HDR won't, according to ON1's help section) I would be astonished (and also delighted!) if every PS plugin will actually work.

It's Boris FX Optics that I'd like to know about. It won't run in Affinity Photo, for example.

There are some differences between 'will run PS plugins' programs. Affinity Pro won't do ON1 Resize either (but Capture One apparently will) but will run the other three.

The one that I am hoping will run is the Canon printing module- It doesnt work in Affinity, but I am hoping it will run in On1. It is a much stronger printing module than the one in 2021.

What Canon printing module? My Google search turned up bunches of hardware stuff but the only software references I saw were for an addition to the printer drivers for Windows users. I did not see any kind of plug-in mentioned. Do you have a reference for me?

Brian, Canon has a printing pluign called Print Studio Pro. It only works with Canon printers and only in Lightroom and Canon's Digital Photo Professional software.

I should add it is a pretty nice plug-in and do wish it would work with On1 but I'm pretty sure that would be up to Canon to make that happen. I'm betting, given Canon's lack of assistance with their Raw files, that there's slim to no chance of that ever happening.

I'm looking into it now. Just finished downloading it. I'll let you know what happens.

It does not look like it. There may be some trick to installing the plug-ins that I'm unaware of but simply dragging copies to PR's PhotoshopPlugins folder didn't work.

I could only get 2 out of 3 Topaz plug-ins to be recognized also. Both Gigapixel AI and Print Studio Pro have multiple plug-ins and are not recognized while Sharpen AI & DeNoise AI both have a single plug-in and they do work.

It must have something to do with the architecture of the different plug-in packages.

I have also called it from Photoshop. It seems designed expressly for PS and LR. Many have tried to call it from other programs with little success. It has a variety of file types, one of which is the best known .8bf, but also a couple of others supported by PS but not by other programs such as affinity. I suspect the Canon programs needs all of the files, not just the .8bf. It would be a very pleasant surprise if it worked.

I would suspect that only basic image filters are supported - .8bf (win) or .plugin (mac). Any other plugin types (import, export, automation etc) are not supported. Photoshop plugins use Photoshop's SDK and are specifically developed for Photoshop - not all applications hosts support/have all features it offers.

I have been able to get all legacy and new Topaz plugins to work except for GigaPixel and Mask, all NIK filters also work (Google free versions).

So, the big new features page should say 'Run SOME Photoshop Plugins Directly Inside of Photo RAW (and no, we don't know which will work without trying them)'?
