Quick Export to source folder
I'm probably making a basic mistake, but when I "Quick Export", the default location is the last location that I exported to. I would prefer the default location to be the source folder for the image in question.
Can I set this up?
Thanks

The User Guide doesn't say much about the Quick Export command. In fact, it is only mentioned in passing in Notes related to other features. There is no explicit entry for what it does at all.
I have to guess that Quick Export is going to utilize all the same settings as your last export used. You'll have to ask Tech Support for a more definitive answer, sorry.

Thank you.
Is it unreasonable to expect the default location to be the Source folder?0 -
I just ran a test where I used the Export panel to export a jpeg with its Destination set to Same Folder as Original. (This is from the upcoming 2022 release.)
Next I went into a sub-folder and used the Quick Export… command where I was presented with a Save dialog allowing me to save the file wherever I want. I tried this multiple times and each time the default was the same location as the image I was exporting.
How do you have your Export Destination set up? Can you post a screenshot showing that please?

Thanks for your reply.
I have tried the following:
Opened a RAW image (F:/sky/ folder) and "Exported" it with the settings shown in the screen grab ie to source folder (F:/sky/ ).
I then opened another RAW image (same drive but different folder) and "Quick Exported" it without changing any settings.
The second image shows that the default save location is the root directory ie neither the "sky" folder nor the source folder.
What I want to be able to do is edit a file in any location and when I export it, by default it is exported to its source folder (as when I "Save" it).I notice that the latest version (I have preordered it!) uses the term "Destination", not "Location" and I do not appear to have the "Same folder as original" option - so the latest version may solve my problem.

I hope so. I'm on a Mac so how the Save dialog gets handled may be different. However, the program should be able to specify the location it shows.
You'll have to ask tech support for a better explanation of what is going on and how the Quick Export handles the location shown in the Save dialog. I'm not able to reason it out.

I'm currently running Windows 11 & Photo Raw 2021
I have never used Quick Export and thought I would test it to see where it wanted to save on my machine.
First time I tried quick export the file wanted to save to the same (source) folder the original file was located.
Second and all subsequent tests the file wanted to save in the last folder saved to and I would have to "navigate" to source folder if that's where I wanted it saved. I also tried closing and restarting the program with the same result. The Quick Export function never defaulted to the source folder. For me it just retains the last folder it saved to.

Brian I read your post a little closer and used the full export panel to export a file ensuring location was set to "Current Folder". After that export I tried a Quick Export again and Quick Export was still using the last location it had saved to as the default. Personally if I used Quick Export more often I wouldn't mind this behavior since I never save edited photos back to the the "source" folder. I keep all my raw files on a separate drive.

I agree, I believe it is working as designed. As far as I can tell you set up an Export normally then use Quick Export to export with those same settings until the Export panel is used again and the settings are changed.

That's not what I saw Brian, I setup Export to Export a file to the Current Folder and then exported the file. I then went into Quick Export and Quick Export ignored where I saved to using Export and wanted to save to the last location that was saved to using the Quick Export function.

I think that is coming from the OS.

Yes very likely.
Again I'm fine with the way it works but it may bother others - I tend to be an oddball ;-)
