On1 2022 plugin not available for Photoshop CC
Hi all, I've submitted a help request but I'm hoping someone here may have the answer as well. below is my post to tech support:
--------------
Hi, I'm at my wits end with this. Every year when I install the new On1 it never installs the plugins on either my laptop of my desktop for Photoshop CC. It takes me a while but I always seem to dig up the article that tells me how to manually do it. With 2022, the file naming is different and I copied the file into the Photoshop CC plugins folder and it's still not under "Filters -> ON1".
Under on1 2022 the only file in the plugin folder is this: "ON1 Photo RAW 2022.lrplugin"
In previous versions it would be named like this: "ON1 Effects 2021-suite.plugin"
I have tried everything and it will not show up in Photoshop CC. All my software is up to date and I'm on OS X Big Sur.
I've attached a screenshot to show the on1 folder and Photoshop folder. You can see it doesn't match the naming convention of 2021 and I only have one option for 2022. Please help me get this under the "Filter->on1" menu in Photoshop. I'd like it under the Automate as well as I do use both options.
Again, I have this issue every year on both systems and I don't know why. If you know of other people who have this issue of it not installing plugins and know the solution, please let me know.
--------------------
After I sent the request I realized the file name has "LR" in it. Is 2022 only available as a plugin for LR? I don't remember reading that. any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

You do know that Photo RAW 2022 no longer includes plug-ins for other applications, right? Did you purchase the plug-in package as well? They should come with their own installers.

I just found that out. Sorry to hear that, I would not have kept my plus membership. The plugins cost double what the software costs. I can't see paying that. I'm a busy guy, I never read the details, I just let them charge my credit card every year and I upgrade. Thanks for the reply though, I appreciate it.

Plus has nothing to do with the software unless you are grandfathered into the now discontinued Plus Pro program which does include the Upgrades for free. There were pre-order deals to get them bundled together at a discount. Sorry you missed that.

I am grandfathered in, I've been a member that long. That's why I didn't pay attention, I'm just used to getting the new version every year and having my plugins. I'm really bummed I missed any kind of deal, I've been using On1 since before it became "photo raw". I was pretty shocked to see the plugins cost double what the software costs. Looks like I'll stick with 2021. Thanks.

Send a message to Kahlie in Customer Service. I don't know if she can help but if anyone can it is her.

I'm so confused. Can I or can I not access RAW 2022 as a plugin filter FROM photoshop CC? I have always used ON1 this way. I have tried using it as a stand alone, but the results just aren't as good as I get from using ACR and PS. I think if I were to get useable results for NoNoise it might be a different story. But I always end up having to go to DeNoise to get the look I want.
If I can't access ON1 from photoshop I might just cancel the sub.

If you are a subscriber you will get the plug-ins once they have been updated for 2022. That should be some time next month.

Guess I shouldn't have deleted 2021 so fast.

Just reinstall it.

Mo Money so I can have my plugins? I wish you had been clearer as I bought ON1 for use with PS. This is really bad and unfortunately I see no more need to spend time with ON1 as it complemented PS.
Way to go losing customers. This was your last year with me!0 -
Gus
All you need to do is buy the Professional plugin series instead of Photo Raw.

Just what I said: Mo Money.
You were not clear on this and now we are left with a new bill for plugins. I have bought ON1 for a few years and this is the first time it is not PS friendly.
I'll use 2020 0r 2021 and look around for other tool to replace them
well it was nice knowing you!!!.0 -
Gus, you are not talking to the company here, only other users like yourself. There's no need to be nasty to us. It isn't our fault. Contact Kahlie in Customer Service and tell her you got the wrong package. You've got a 14 day money back guarantee so get your refund and buy the correct product. Not Mo Money, the same money.

Well sorry you thought it was with you personally as they are for ON1 and I assume they follow user comments directly or through moderators.. I'm just tired of being baited and switched and as can be seen in other comments there are others who aren't happy either. Plus the solution given to me was to spend Mo Money!!. That is not very nice. All my previous purchases were for a full suite and now it is just a basic tool without the extras previously included.
I still don't understand which product has all the plugins for "the same money" or what products are available0 -
No, they don't follow the conversations here. It all up to us.
Once again, you don't have to spend any more money if you do not want the Photo RAW program and all you need are the plug-in. Get a refund for PR then buy the plug-ins. By "the same money" I meant you'd spend your refund on the new purchase. That makes it the same money.
The Plug-in bundle is $149. It includes the Photoshop plug-ins and the stand-alone versions of the modules from PR that they call. Or, you can choose to purchase just those individual plug-ins that you use.
You have the choice to purchase the software outright and own it forever or to subscribe which entitles you to receive free updates to all software for as long as you maintain the subscription. Stop the subscription and the software stops working. You can subscribe for $149.
The price may be more than just the upgrade price for existing Photo RAW user but you are getting 6 programs, not 1.

Gus, if you just need the plugins and not the full ON PR2022. The screen shot below is for the 2021 plugins but I would imagine the prices will be similar when the 2022 plugins are released. I'm a bit surprised ON1 isn't advertising and doesn't seem to have a way to preorder the 2022 plugins if they did that might reduce some confusion.

The company has announced they should be released sometime this month.

Just what I said: Mo Money.
ON1 was not clear on this and now we are left with a new bill for plugins. I have bought ON1 for a few years and this is the first time it is not PS friendly. I dislike playing games with purchase options and "In-app Purchases" for options that were standard in previous versions. I was just buying an integrated package and not a build it yourself approach as I'm buying an integral software package and not a custom sandwich.
I'll use 2020 0r 2021 and look around for other tool to replace them. Wish I'd known and I would have saved my MOney!

I'm an On1 Plus and a On1 Photo Raw subscriber. I can download On1 2022 at no cost, but I don't see how to use it as a plug in in Lightroom or Photoshop. Is it a separate fee to do this and if so how?
0 -
The plug-ins and program are separate products now. They haven't yet been updated for 2022. As a subscriber you will receive them for free when they are released later this month.

Thanks Brian, much clearer now!

Yes, as a long time user, I was also under the impression when I recently upgraded (after they started offering a better discount for the non-subscription) that the program would work as it always had before, as an easy to access plugin from within Photoshop. I have so many previous plugins that I didn't notice I hadn't been even using RAW 2022 for the past couple weeks. I thought they finally caved in and dropped the added charges to have plugins. I don't use Lightroom.
Now it will require a few extra steps to integrate ON1 with my Photoshop work. Not thrilled.0 -
I am totally disappointed. I have been an On1 user for decades.On1 RAW 2022 is no longer a photoshop plugin. Blown away. Any image I am working on in photoshop, that I want to work on in ON1 RAW2022, is now a major hassle to deal with. Totally useless. It is now impossible to work through Photoshop unless you pay the ransom fee they are now charging. The greed of ON1 is very disturbing after all these years of being a loyal user. Can't they figure out another way of making money instead of screwing us around? Just jack up the price of your products. This feels like a scam by some rinky-dink con artist. Not a company that wants a loyal following. Where is your integrity ON1? I have said this before, but this is the last time. There is too many other software. companies competing with ON1 that don't make me feel like I have been conned. No more money to ON1. SAD

Agreed, they left it out of the plugins package. For that reason, I rarely use it these days since the other plugins do 95% of what I need. Too much trouble to go outside Photoshop to get a task done.

Your complaint doesn't make sense. If you need plugins, then buy plugins. You don't need to buy BOTH Photo Raw AND the plugins, just one or the other.
0 -
Not true. Photo RAW has some features like the cloud backgrounds that the plugins do not.

ON1 always came with the ability to be used in conjunction with photoshop. This was a dramatic change from all previous software. There was no clue that this was the case. Why would anyone upgrade from 2021 to 2022? There was only one reason they did this. It wasn't for the bennifit of their long time customers. It was a bait and switch. If they made this evident in their advertising, I missed it. It must have been in the very small print. What they did is total BS. It's hard to believe that this didn't turn off the majority of their customers. After all these years, to now have to pay to use the software with photoshop is a joke. Develop other software if they're financially desperate. Don't add an additional tax to use it through Photoshop. Integrity means something. Greed is not good!

They did it because the majority of their users used just to program or use it in conjunction with Photoshop very few of their users want both, and it doesn’t make sense to make everybody pay for both the company is in the business of making money after all

Which is fine provided the plugins had all the same features of the standalone. They don't.

Brian, I think that is bull. Most photographers, etc. work with both programs. Not just one. On1 has been making money for a long time. I know this is a big turn-off for many of their customers. This is the first time that I can remember in the decades that I've been with them, that they initiated this charge for using the software with Photoshop. I purchased the software because it worked seamlessly with PS. On1 2021 & 2022 RAW, was purchased because of the additional upgrades they made to the software. Before, I didn't have to stop my workflow to switch software in the middle of an edit. On1 Resize is $100 for the plugin. LOL. It may take more time, but a file can be re-sized with PS. Much cheaper and less hassle.
