On1 2022 is darkening photo's

When I was editing some photos I saw that when on1 2022 was loading/preparing the photo for view in development, it had the original colors/brightness, but when the photo was done, it became much darker. When I change the exposure with about +0.7 it is a bit the same but still with a difference in how the overall photo looks.
There are no edits applied just view in development. Not all photo have this issue.
If I look at the histogram the difference is huge. I have reset the photo to default on both 2021 and 2022, but difference stays. https://ibb.co/gW9H3nT

Are you processing a RAW file?
When On1 is loading a RAW file it starts by displaying the embedded JPG that the camera process and included in the RAW file, then it switches to the actual RAW file information. It sounds as though your camera is doing some exposure adjustments to the JPG before it embeds it.
Try the AI Match option and see if the image gets nearer the initial view. That option does its best to set development settings so that RAW image matches the embedded JPG.

I am processing raw files only (don't use jpg)
AI Match is doing a bit better job, but still a difference, especially in black/shadow area.
Camera is a Nikon 5300, the photo is taken with AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR at 55mm.
I also tested it with no lens corrections, but outcome is the same.

I have just checked with one of my photos with 2021 and 2022 side by side on the same monitor with no adjustments applied and showing the basic RAW conversion (when I took the photo I had my camera set up in B&W mode so embedded JPG was in B&W but RAW had full colour, and it is this that is being displayed) I can't see any real difference in tones.
In the back of my mind I have a memory of early releases of NoNoise having a similar problem so I just wonder if the changes to incorporate NoNoise in the demosaicing process in 2022 have carried this problem over for some types of RAW files.
I suggest that you report the problem to support and upload one of the problem files to something like WeTransfer so you can include the link to this in your report so they can access the file for testing. RAW files can't be attached to problem reports.

Hi Erik, maybe you got David wrong when you say, you do not process JPGs. There are JPGs embedded for preview within the RAW file and that's what ON1 displays first (at least I think so). Have you checked the "Camera Profile" settings? "Linear Raw" might give you much darker results.

Camera profile is on "ON1 standard" when I switch to " Linear Raw" it is gets even more worse.
When I push Highlights to -100 and Whites to 100 and Midtones to (about) +28, I get a similar result as to the 2021 version.

Had the same problem. Solution for me was going into the Preferences panel -> Files -> and then select Disable Base Corrections on RAW Photos

There were some changes made to how some camera's RAW files get interpreted. You should report this to support Erik. Include screen shots that illustrate the differences between the two versions of the program and include a link for them to download one of your RAW files for the engineers to work with.

FYI , ON1 support confirmed the issue and it is related to 12bit vs 14bit NEF files.
Hopefully it is fixed soon :)

Hi Erik,
I am using an Olympus Camera, so I have *.ORF raw-files. I just played with my brand new ON1 PR 2022 a bit and after that one picture was - darkende. "Reset All" in develop did not help. I found out that it was the only one with an acconmpanying ".xmp" file. After closing ON1, deleting this sidecar file and restarting ON1 again, the image had the original brightness back. Maybe more is involved than just a "NEF"-issue.

Hi Erik,
I was working on this photo tonight where I have used ETTR. My histogram looks correct.
I know there were some changes made to how some camera models raw data is being interpreted. You said you see differences between 2021 and 2022. It's possible that your camera is one of those that was affected.
You should report this to support. Send them screen shots of the same unprocessed photo from both version, the whole screen, not just the histogram, and a link to download a copy of your raw file.

I am glad to say that the latest 16.0.1.11212 release fixed my issue with 12bit photo's.

Same problem with my Fuji GFX 100s photos. Single photo [16bit] I take is no problem. In High speed [14bit] mode there is a problem.
